What is the ruling on the prayer of a worshipper who enters the mosque late for the congregation and follows one of the followers? And is there any evidence for this action?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : The questioner says: Our Shaykh, what is the ruling on the prayer of a worshipper who enters the mosque late for the congregation and follows one of the followers? And is there any evidence for this action?

The Shaykh : There is no evidence for this action, and the original rule in acts of worship is prohibition unless there is evidence. So, if no evidence comes regarding the legitimacy of a specific act of worship, the evidence for its illegitimacy is the absence of evidence for its legitimacy.

The questioner : May Allah reward you with good. He says: Does the Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah say this?

The Shaykh : It is possible; he says this, just as he says regarding the second congregation.

The questioner : So, our Shaykh, do you have evidence regarding the second congregation and for the saying about the second congregation, meaning?

The Shaykh : Who?

The questioner : Ibn Taymiyyah [regarding] the permissibility of the second congregation.

The Shaykh : ... the generality of the hadith:
The prayer in congregation is twenty five times superior to the prayer offered by person alone. صلاة الجماعة تفضل صلاة الفذِّ بخمس وعشرين درجة
Sahih al-Bukhari 646
, and they respond with the hadith:
Is there any man who may do good with this (man) and pray along with him. أَلَا رجلٌ يتصدَّق على هذا فيصلي معه ؟!
Sunan Abi Dawud 574Sahih (Al-Albani)
, and the congregational prayer is like the mosques
as long as you are staying for worship in the mosques وَأَنْتُمْ عَاكِفُونَ فِي الْمَسَاجِدِ
[Al-Baqarah 2:187]
, the intended meaning is the customary congregation mentioned previously, which is the first congregation.
