regarding the ruling on getting to know one another among people.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh: But there is no objection to carrying out this getting to know one another for a temporary reason - for example - like what you mentioned just now; because what is prevalent today in the minds of many of those who are committed to Islam, whether their concept of it is correct or not, is that getting to know one another is from the Sunnah. This is not from the Sunnah in any way. The Sunnah is that if you love a Muslim for the sake of Allah, you inform him of that. This is the Sunnah. As for saying, "Let us get to know each other, so-and-so the son of so-and-so, so-and-so the son of so-and-so, he works in such-and-such, he is an employee in such-and-such, he studies such-and-such," and so on; this is pure European imitation. Then this getting to know one another does not lead to anything prescribed, and it becomes a means to reach the goal, as He - Mighty and Majestic - said:
O mankind, indeed We have created you from male and female and made you peoples and tribes that you may know one another
[Al-Hujurat 49:13]
Why?
Indeed, the most noble of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous of you إِنَّ أَكْرَمَكُمْ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ أَتْقَاكُمْ
[Al-Hujurat 49:13]
. So if the getting to know one another is for the sake of mere getting to know one another, then it is like the one who performs wudu' but does not pray. But if he intends behind that to take another step toward establishing some of the bonds, affection, and love that are necessary, then there is no harm in it. But on the condition that it is not adopted as a Sunnah. The Sunnah, as we mentioned, is that I love so-and-so for the sake of Allah, and the response comes from him: May Allah love you for the sake of which you loved me. As for so-and-so, his name is such-and-such and his name is such-and-such, a person like my story, he does not benefit anything from this getting to know one another, because he comes in from here and goes out from here. In any case, let us start with our brother here on the right... .

The questioner: Your brother in Allah, "Abu Anas Muhammad Musa Nasr," an imam and khatib in al-Zarqa... "Ahmad Naddaf."

Another questioner: Are you married or single? [Everyone laughs!]
...

Another questioner: ... deposits.

The Shaykh : How?

Another questioner: ... deposits... so what is the Shaykh's opinion... .

The Shaykh: What is the nature of this transaction?

Another questioner: ... and so on.

The Shaykh: And what does the bank do with this money?

Another questioner: No one knows.

The Shaykh : Yes?

Another questioner: No one knows, is he working with them in a different way, is he... .

The Shaykh: If you do not know, I am like your case, I do not know.

Another questioner : May Allah reward you with good.

Another questioner: We did not get the essence, O Shaykh!

Another questioner : Yes?

Another questioner: We did not get the essence, we did not benefit anything.

Another questioner : ... .
