Question: I read in the book *Al-Majmu'ah al-Mubaraka fi al-Salawat al-Ma'thurah wa al-A'mal al-Mabrurah*, I read a hadith from Anas ibn Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Whoever prays two rak'ahs on the night of Friday, reciting in each rak'ah the Opening of the Book once, and Surah Az-Zalzalah fifteen times, and when he finishes his prayer he says: "O Ever-Living, O Sustainer, O Possessor of Majesty and Honor" one hundred times, Allah will protect him from the punishment of the grave and its darkness, and from the terrors of the Day of Resurrectionمن صلى ليلة الجمعة ركعتين يقرأ في كل ركعة فاتحة الكتاب مرة، وسورة الزلزلة خمس عشرة مرة، فإذا فرغ من صلاته يقول: يا حي يا قيوم يا ذا الجلال والإكرام مائة مرة، آمنه الله من عذاب القبر ومن ظلمته، ومن أهوال يوم القيامة
, so what is the degree of authenticity of this hadith in text and meaning?

Answer: First: We direct you that hadiths are not taken from such a book, but rather one should refer to reliable hadith books such as *Sahih al-Bukhari*, *Sahih Muslim*, the *Sunan*, and other known reliable books. As for this hadith that you mentioned; I did not find a source for it in what I have reviewed, and it appears that it has no source; because among the virtues of Friday mentioned by the scholars, this hadith was not included. What is prescribed on the night of Friday is to increase in sending blessings upon the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) on the night of Friday and on the day of Friday, and in the dawn of the night of Friday it is recommended to recite in the Fajr prayer,In the first rak'ah: Alif Lam Mim As-Sajdah,And in the second:
Has there [not] come upon man a period of timeهَلْ أَتَى عَلَى الْإِنْسَانِ حِينٌ مِنَ الدَّهْرِ
[Al-Insan 76:1]
, this is what is prescribed on the night of Friday. As for specifying it with a prayer other than the other nights, no hadith has been established regarding this, and it is like the other nights. The Muslim should pray whatever is easy of Tahajjud, and conclude it with Witr. As for praying this prayer that you mentioned, nothing authentic has been established regarding it from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). And as we mentioned, if you wish to act upon a hadith, you should review the known reliable books of Sunnah. As for taking a strange or unknown book and relying on it, and transmitting hadiths from it, this will lead you to error. The hadiths contain fabricated ones falsely attributed to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and weak ones, and this is clarified in the books of the specialists in hadith. Not every hadith you find in a book is to be acted upon until its source and origin are verified. And Allah knows best.
