The Shaykh: Do you have anything to bring up? Please go ahead.
Al-Halabi: Al-Imam al-Ajri, in his book *Al-Shari'ah*, narrates through his chain from 'Umar ibn Yazid, who said, "I heard al-Hasan, during the time of Yazid ibn al-Muhallab, say—and a group of men had come to him—'During the time of Yazid ibn al-Muhallab, there was a fitnah (trial, discord or temptation) at that time.' So he ordered them to stay in their houses and lock their doors. Then he said, 'By Allah, if people, when they are tested by their rulers, were to be patient, Allah the Mighty and Majestic would not keep that [affliction] from being lifted from them for long. And that is because they resort to the sword and entrust [the matter] to it. By Allah, they have never brought about a day of good.'"
