Adherence to the Book and the Sunnah saves one from error.

The Shaykh : As is said in some Arabic proverbs: "Whoever enters the sea, the water pipes become independent." I think you understand the meaning of this statement?

The questioner : No, and whoever becomes independent of the sea?

The Shaykh : The water pipes become independent.

The questioner : Whoever rides the sea, the water pipes become independent.

The Shaykh : Well, I want to say from this that when the Muslim returns to the two pure sources, which are, as you know, the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), in which he (peace and blessings be upon him) mentioned two hadiths that suit our current situation. One of them is
I have left with you two things by which you will not go astray as long as you hold fast to them: the Book of Allah and my Sunnah. They will not separate until they return to me at the Pond. تركت فيكم شيئين لن تضلوا ما إن تمسكتم بهما كتاب الله وسنتي ولن يتفرقا حتى يردا عليها الحوض
, this is one of the hadiths, and the other is his saying (peace and blessings be upon him)
I have not left anything that brings you closer to Allah except that I have commanded you with it, and I have not left anything that distances you from Allah and brings you closer to the Fire except that I have forbidden it. ما تركت شيئا يقربكم إلى الله إلا وأمرتكم به وما تركت شيئا يبعدكم عن الله ويقربكم من النار إلا ونهيتكم عنه
. Therefore, we Muslims find ourselves, and it is obligatory for every one of us to be self-sufficient with what Allah has provided us from the Book of our Lord and the Sunnah of our Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family). The civilizations you referred to earlier are civilizations that do not bring happiness to their owners, neither in this world nor in the Hereafter. Rather, all happiness, as the Mighty and Majestic said in the Qur'an, is
(5) As for he who gives and fears Allah (6) And believes in the best [reward], (7) We will ease him toward ease. (8) But as for he who withholds and considers himself free of need (9) And denies the best [reward],فأما من أعطى و إتقى و صدق بالحسنى فسنيسره لليسرى وأما من بخل و إستغنى و كذب بالحسنى فسنيسره للعسرى
[Al-Layl 92:5-9]
. This happiness that all people seek, whether they are believers or disbelievers, whether they are righteous believers or wicked ones, all of them seek happiness, but only those who hold fast to the two foundations, the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), know the path to it. Therefore, I do not find in myself any need whatsoever to deviate from this path in which Allah the Mighty and Majestic has placed me, out of His grace and mercy, which is engaging with the Book and the Sunnah, in terms of transmission, then understanding, and jurisprudence. Perhaps I have answered your question.
