Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : This questioner sent a set of questions without mentioning her name in this message. She says that she performed Hajj while wearing gloves and did not know the ruling on them. Is her Hajj valid, or must she repeat it?

The Shaykh : Yes. Her Hajj is valid. This woman who wore gloves while not knowing that it is forbidden has a valid Hajj, and she owes no sin and no expiation. This is based on the saying of Allah the Exalted:
Our Lord, do not impose blame upon us if we have forgotten or erred.
[Al-Baqarah 2:286]
So Allah the Exalted said:
He has done so قد فعلت
And based on His saying:
And there is no blame upon you for that in which you have erred but [only for] what your hearts intended
[Al-Ahzab 33:5]
.
It should be known that all the forbidden things in acts of worship, if a person does them while forgetting, or being ignorant, or being forced, he owes nothing. This is a rule we do not take from the saying of so-and-so or so-and-so, or from the writings of so-and-so or so-and-so, but we take it from the Book and the Sunnah: that whoever does a forbidden thing while not knowing it is forbidden, or does it while forgetting, he owes nothing. But if he learns of what he was ignorant of, he must leave this forbidden thing, and if he remembers after forgetting, he must leave this forbidden thing. This rule is taken from the saying of Allah the Exalted:
Our Lord, do not impose blame upon us if we have forgotten or erred.
[Al-Baqarah 2:286]
So Allah the Exalted said:
He has done so قد فعلت
And from His saying:
And there is no blame upon you for that in which you have erred but [only for] what your hearts intended
[Al-Ahzab 33:5]
And from His saying regarding the killing of game:
And whoever of you kills it intentionally - the penalty is an equivalent from sacrificial animals to what he killed
[Al-Ma'idah 5:95]
And from the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) regarding fasting:
If anyone forgets that he is fasting and eats or drinks he should complete his fast, for it is only Allah Who has fed him and given him drink.
Sahih Muslim 1155
And because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and his Companions broke their fast in Ramadan on a cloudy day, and then the sun appeared, and he did not order them to make it up, because they were ignorant of the time.
For this great rule, there are proofs and corroborating evidence, and we are content with what we have mentioned. So this woman who wore the gloves while ignorant or forgetting owes nothing, no expiation and no sin, and her Hajj is valid. Yes.

The questioner : May Allah reward you with good.
