The speaker’s saying “(peace and blessings be upon him) and (peace be upon him)” and “(peace and blessings be upon him)”: Does this suffice in place of the prayer upon the Prophet, “May Allah send blessings upon Muhammad and upon the family of Muhammad”?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Regarding the saying “(peace and blessings be upon him)” or “(peace and blessings be upon him)” or “(peace be upon him)”: Does it suffice in place of the text transmitted from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)?

The Shaykh : Where? In what place do you mean?

The questioner : In the dhikr during a lecture. The phrase “the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)” is long, so for example, the lecturer says “(peace and blessings be upon him),” and we are unable to say “May Allah send blessings upon Muhammad and upon the family of Muhammad.”

The Shaykh : Of course, this makes clear to you the importance of the practice of the Salaf. You read many hadiths, numbering in the thousands, and in all of them the narrator says, “The Messenger of Allah said…” What does he say? He says, “The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: ‘May Allah send blessings upon Muhammad and upon the family of Muhammad, as He sent blessings upon Ibrahim and upon the family of Ibrahim.’” He does not say, “The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said,” and that is sufficient and adequate. It is clear that this practice is taken from the practice of the Salaf. Yes.
