Who are the specialists in hadith?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : We want to know who the specialists in hadith are now?

The Shaykh : This knowledge is with my Lord. You should recognize the specialists by their effects. There is a wisdom I read in some of the Gospels, based on the fact that it was originally a book revealed by Allah (Mighty and Majestic) to 'Isa (peace be upon him), and some wisdom still remains in it. I read that 'Isa (peace be upon him) once admonished the disciples, mentioning to them that a truthful prophet and lying prophets would come after him. He warned them against the Dajjals and ordered them to be alert to the truthful prophet, who is, as stated in the Noble Qur'an:
and bringing good tidings of a messenger to come after me, whose name is Ahmad. ومبشرًا برسول يأتي من بعدي اسمه أحمد
[As-Saf 61:6]
. They asked him, "O 'Isa, how do we know the truthful from the liar?" He answered with the following wisdom: "By their fruits you will know them." It is not for me to say, "So-and-so is a specialist, and so-and-so is not a specialist." But use your minds, set aside your desires, and look: is everyone who writes in a certain science a specialist? Of course not; this is a self-evident truth that does not need discussion. So, who is judged to be a specialist in that science? Here are two clear, apparent signs. First, he has written extensively in this science, and this alone is not sufficient. Second, the people of knowledge and virtue have testified to him. These witnesses should not necessarily be specialists themselves, but rather scholars who testified that he is truly a scholar and an expert in his craft. This is the specialist. So, look now at those who write in the science of hadith: do these two characteristics apply to them or not? This scale is something we can offer to every Muslim, and then he must fear Allah (Mighty and Majestic), neither being excessive nor negligent. He should not be excessive, nor negligent; he should not neglect the right of the specialist, nor exaggerate in giving what does not belong to this specialist. This is the scale. And we ask Allah (Mighty and Majestic) to make us know how to weigh with the straight balance.
Yes.
