What is the authenticity of the hadith: (That a person is rewarded for everything except in building)? And what is its meaning?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner: What is the authenticity of the hadith:
That a person is rewarded for everything except in building أن الإنسان يُؤجر في كل شيء إلا في البناء
? And what is the concept of this hadith which was reported in "Mishkat al-Masabih"?

The Shaykh: Yes, this hadith is established if you trace its chains, and there is no issue with it; because the intended meaning is what Muslims are afflicted with today in this time regarding the exaggeration in raising buildings and the multiplication of rooms, so the Muslim has no reward in that, rather it is feared that there is a sin upon him in that, as for the Muslim if he builds a house according to his need, and intends in that as he intends in all permissible things to cover himself and protect it from heat and cold, and from needing to stay in hotels where he may find what he cannot change of wrongs; then he is rewarded; because his building was to the extent allowed by the Shari'ah, it has come in "Sahih Muslim" from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said:
A bed for you, a bed for your wife, a bed for your guest, and the fourth is for Satan. فراش لك ، وفراش لزوجك ، وفراش لضيفك ، والرابع للشيطان
.
A bed for you, a bed for your wife, a bed for your guest, and the fourth is for Satan. فراش لك ، وفراش لزوجك ، وفراش لضيفك ، والرابع للشيطان
, so in this is an explicit statement that it is not permissible for the Muslim to expand in building and in clothes and attire beyond what he needs, for he falls into extravagance which Satan commands and the Most Merciful (Blessed and Exalted is He) forbids; so the hadith which explicitly states that the Muslim is rewarded for everything except in building; because it is predominant for the builder to build what he does not benefit from except for grandeur and ostentation, and this is without doubt from the work of Satan which Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He) does not approve of.
