Is ritual purity prescribed for the prostration of recitation?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : The first question: Is ritual purity prescribed for the prostration of recitation? And what is the supplication reported for it?

The Shaykh : No, one question is enough for you; give the turn to someone else.
Ritual purity is not obligatory for the prostration of recitation; whether it is purity of the place, purity of the clothes, or purity from major or minor ritual impurity. The prostration of recitation is like any other dhikr (remembrance of Allah) that a Muslim may recite in any state, as came in Sahih Muslim from the hadith of Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), who said: "The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) would remember Allah in all his states." However, there is no doubt that when a Muslim sits to remember Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He), it is best for him to be in a state of complete purity; there is no doubt that this is the best of states. Therefore, it was reported from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that one day he came out after relieving himself, and a man passed by him and greeted him. The Prophet hurried to the wall and performed tayammum (dry ablution with clean earth), the tayammum known in the authentic Sunnah, and then said:
And peace be upon you. وعليكم السلام
, and he explained this by saying:
I disliked to remember Allah except in a state of purity إني كرهتُ أن أذكرَ الله إلا على طهر
Al-Mustadrak lil-Hakim 3:139
. He (peace and blessings be upon him) disliked returning the greeting to the one who greeted him except while in a state of purity. So what do you think if a Muslim sits to recite the Book of Allah and mention the hadiths of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)? There is no doubt that it is better for him to be in a state of purity. But this does not imply what some jurists say, that the prostration of recitation is not permissible or valid except in a state of purity; there is absolutely no evidence for this. Rather, the most balanced opinion is to say that it is permissible, or that the prostration of recitation is permissible without purity, but it is better for the Muslim to be in a state of purity. This is the stronger opinion in this issue.
