The prostration for which ritual purity is obligatory

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Is ritual purity obligatory for the prostration of recitation and other prostrations?
This depends on whether the prostration of recitation is a prayer or not.If we say: It is a prayer for which ritual purity is obligatory.By the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): (Allah does not accept the prayer of any one of you when he is in a state of ritual impurity until he performs ablution),And if we say: It is not a prayer for which ritual purity is obligatory, and there is scholarly disagreement among the scholars regarding this issue.

And what we see: That the prostration of recitation is not performed by a person unless he is in a state of ritual purity; otherwise, he does not prostrate. As for the prostration of gratitude, it comes upon a person suddenly, and he may not be in a state of ablution. In this case, there is no harm in prostrating. So we see the difference between the prostration of recitation and the prostration of gratitude. And what indicates this difference: That the prostration of gratitude during prayer is not permissible. So if a person is praying and is informed of the birth of a child, he does not prostrate in gratitude. But if he is reciting the Qur'an and comes upon a verse of prostration, he prostrates. This is what I see in this issue: that the prostration of recitation requires ritual purity, while the prostration of gratitude does not require ritual purity.
And there is no harm if it is a light ablution so that the time does not become long. However, one should not recite the Qur'an except in a state of ritual purity. It is better for a person not to recite the Qur'an except in a state of ritual purity, whether he reads it from the mushaf or from memory. But he may recite without ritual purity, because it is not among the conditions for reciting the Qur'an that a person be in a state of ritual purity, except in the case of major ritual impurity. In the case of major ritual impurity, it is not permissible for one in a state of major ritual impurity to recite the Qur'an until he performs the full ritual bath.
