Is it permissible for a suitor to prevent his fiancée from working?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : He proposed to a woman, and she sent him a message saying she wants to work. Should he prevent her from working, or what should he do?

The Shaykh : Do you mean he proposed to her, or that he has contracted the marriage with her?

The questioner : No, he proposed to her.

The Shaykh : A suitor has no authority over her, but he must not marry her except on the condition that she does not work.

The questioner : And if her family insists on her working.

The Shaykh : Do not marry her. I told you not to marry her. As long as you have not contracted the marriage with her, it is not permissible for you to propose to her and contract the marriage with her except on the condition that she does not work outside the home. And peace be upon you.
