The ruling on the suitor seeing the prospective bride and her uncovering her hair for the suitor
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The second question in the letter from the sister Istibriq from Iraq, in which she says: If a young man proposes to a girl, in this case, is it obligatory for him to see her? Also, is it permissible for the girl to uncover her head to show her beauty more to her suitor? Please inform us, may Allah reward you.
Answer: There is nothing wrong with it, but it is not obligatory; it is recommended. It is recommended that he see her and she see him, because this is closer to harmony. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered the one who proposes to look. So if she uncovers her face, her hands, and her head for him, there is nothing wrong with it according to the correct opinion. Some scholars said: the face and the two palms are sufficient, but the correct opinion is that there is nothing wrong with uncovering the head and the feet as well, so that her beauties are fully seen. She may look at him and he may look at her, because this is closer to harmony between them, as came in the hadith. Yes, this should be done without seclusion; rather, her father or her brother or another woman should be with them. He does not seclude himself with her. Yes.
