Is it permissible for the suitor to speak with his fiancée, and for her to do the same?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : If the suitor goes to see his fiancée, is it permissible for him to speak with her...

The Shaykh : All of this is fine, but after the contract.

The questioner : No, before the contract.

The Shaykh : Before the contract, what is there to chat about with her?! No, this is a mistake. The Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Look." There is no harm in looking; he repeated this until he was convinced or he left. As for speaking to her, this is absolutely not permissible. For this reason, some people, even in other countries, hold the phone from when they finish the last prayer until the call to Fajr prayer. He and his fiancée say, "I will just ask her and see how she feels," and he teases her once and makes her laugh once, and so on. This is not permissible. She is a stranger to the man until the contract is completed. We have also heard that in some countries, he and she go out and walk around, going and coming. We ask Allah for safety. Yes.
