Discussion of the Hadith of the Split and Clarification of the Reality of the Saved Sect

The Shaykh : We praise Him and seek His help, and we seek His forgiveness and we seek refuge in Allah from the evils of our souls and from the bad of our deeds. Whoever Allah guides, none can misguide, and whoever He misguides, none can guide. And I bear witness that there is no god but Allah alone, with no partner, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His slave and His Messenger. [Ali 'Imran 3:102] [An-Nisa 4:1] [Al-Ahzab 33:70-71] As for what follows, the best of guidance is the guidance of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), and the worst of matters are their innovations, and every innovation is a religious innovation, and every religious innovation is misguidance, and every misguidance is in the Fire. And again,
We are in an age in which the saying of our Prophet (may Allah’s blessings and peace be upon him) has come true, in his statement: They asked: Who are they, O Messenger of Allah? He said: And in another narration that explains the first one, he (may Allah’s prayer and peace be upon him) said: Since this hadith explicitly states that the Muslims will split into seventy-three sects, seventy-two of which are all in the Fire, and the saved sect is one, it is fitting for every Muslim to know which sect he belongs to? Is he of the saved sect, whose characteristics are clear and manifest? Or is he, may Allah forbid, of one of those many sects which reached the number of seventy-two in the report of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)? Every one of these sects claims to have a connection and bond with the Islam that Allah revealed to the heart of Muhammad (peace be upon him). But the truth says to these claimants: “Your claims, unless you establish proofs for them, are the claims of false claimants,” or as the other one said: “And every one claims a connection to Layla, / But Layla does not approve of that for them.”
So what is the way and what is the path for the Muslim to be certain of his affair, that he is of the saved sect, or that he is of one of those deviant, astray sects? There is no way for the Muslim in this age to know that he is of the saved sect except by holding fast to the strong rope of Allah, which is nothing but the Noble Qur’an and the Sunnah of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family), which is the companion of the Noble Qur’an, as he (may Allah’s prayer and peace be upon him) said in the authentic hadith: Our Messenger (may Allah’s blessings and peace be upon him) left us on the white, clear path, its night like its day, none goes astray or deviates from it except one who is destroyed. He left us on the Book and the Sunnah, and left us on one path, not on multiple paths. Therefore, Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He) says in the Noble Qur’an: [Al-An'am 6:153] , and that My path is this, straight, so follow it , My path means My way, meaning My path, and this is a text in the Noble Qur’an, no falsehood comes to it from before it or from behind it, that all the paths leading to Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He) are false except this one path, which is the way that our Prophet (may Allah’s blessings and peace be upon him) brought us, and our Lord (Mighty and Majestic) informed us in His Book in the previous verse: [Al-An'am 6:153] meaning the paths [Al-An'am 6:153] .
And out of his (may Allah’s prayer and peace be upon him) mercy for his Ummah and his eagerness to clarify the legal realities he brought to them, he depicted for us the path and the way that Allah (Mighty and Majestic) commanded us to follow, and the paths that contradict and differ from it. The Messenger (peace be upon him) depicted that for his Companions one day on the ground, where he drew a straight line for them, then drew short lines around the line. This reminds me of some of the poles raised today to broadcast evil, mostly, which are the vertical ones they place on buildings to catch television broadcasts. You find how there are lines in it like this, parallel. The Messenger (peace be upon him) depicted for his noble Companions the Straight Path and the paths that contradict it on the ground, where he drew a straight line for them, and around this straight line, short lines. And he recited for them the noble verse:[Al-An'am 6:153] Then he clarified that by his (peace be upon him) saying: The straight line is the path that Allah (Mighty and Majestic) said: [Al-An'am 6:153] , Then he (peace be upon him) said: A long, long path with no end. To me, to me. This is the path that leads to Allah. So whoever responds to this devil has strayed from the Straight Path, , The truth is that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) conveyed the message, fulfilled the trust, and advised the Ummah with everything he brought (peace and blessings be upon him). And among that is this hadith which clarifies the previous verse: [Al-An'am 6:153] .
The paths today and before today are many, and very many. Some are old and some are new. So there is no salvation for the Muslim except by knowing the path of Allah, the path that Allah (Mighty and Majestic) mentioned in the previous verse. And there is no way, as we said, to know that except by returning to the Book and the Sunnah. Therefore, we constantly call all Muslims in all parts of the world to save themselves from falling into one of the many paths of misguidance. And that is by recognizing the one true path, which has no second, and it is the path of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him). It is the path that the noble Companions followed, and then the renowned Imams followed them in that, such as the four Imams and others; they were all on this straight path. And the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) emphasized the matter by that and warned that the Muslim should not hold fast to something that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and his Companions were not upon, with the authentic hadith narrated by the compilers of the Sunan and others from the hadith of al-'Arba' ibn Sariyah (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: “The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) preached to us a sermon that made our hearts tremble and our eyes shed tears. So we said: O Messenger of Allah, we see you as one bidding farewell, so give us advice. He said: ” So what is the work, as if someone says: What is the work, O Messenger of Allah? The answer comes without a question Sunan Abi Dawud 4607Sahih (Al-Albani) And in another hadith: Sunan an-Nasa'i 1578Sahih (Darussalam)
O you who have believed, fear Allah as He should be feared and do not die except as Muslims [in submission to Him].
O mankind, fear your Lord, who created you from one soul and created from it its mate and dispersed from both of them many men and women. And fear Allah, through whom you ask one another, and the wombs. Indeed Allah is ever, over you, an Observer.
(70) O you who have believed, fear Allah and speak words of appropriate justice. (71) He will [then] amend for you your deeds and forgive you your sins. And whoever obeys Allah and His Messenger has certainly attained a great attainment.
We are in an age in which the saying of our Prophet (may Allah’s blessings and peace be upon him) has come true, in his statement:
The Jews divided into seventy-one sects, and the Christians divided into seventy-two sects, and my Ummah will divide into seventy-three sects, all in the Fire except one.
It is the Jama'ah.
It is the one that is upon what I am upon and my Companions
So what is the way and what is the path for the Muslim to be certain of his affair, that he is of the saved sect, or that he is of one of those deviant, astray sects? I have left with you two things; you will not go astray as long as you hold fast to them: the Book of Allah and my Sunnah. They will not separate until they return to me at the Pool.
And, [moreover], this is My path, which is straight, so follow it; and do not follow [other] ways, for you will be separated from His way
And, [moreover], this is My path, which is straight, so follow it; and do not follow [other] ways
وأن هذا صراطي مستقيمًا فاتبعوه ولا تتبعوا السبلand do not follow [other] ways, for you will be separated from His way
And out of his (may Allah’s prayer and peace be upon him) mercy for his Ummah and his eagerness to clarify the legal realities he brought to them, he depicted for us the path and the way that Allah (Mighty and Majestic) commanded us to follow, and the paths that contradict and differ from it. This is the path of Allah.
And, [moreover], this is My path, which is straight, so follow it
And these are short paths, and at the head of every one of them is a devil calling people to it
These are paths, and at the head of every one of them is a devil calling people to it
And, [moreover], this is My path, which is straight, so follow it; and do not follow [other] ways, for you will be separated from His way

I advise you to fear Allah and to listen and obey, even if the one placed in authority over you is a slave from Abyssinia. Indeed, whoever among you outlives me will see much disagreement.
You must then follow my sunnah and that of the rightly-guided caliphs. Hold to it and stick fast to it. Avoid novelties, for every novelty is an innovation, and every innovation is an error.
فعليكم بسنتي وسنة الخلفاء الراشدين المهديين من بعدي عضوا عليها بالنواجذ وإياكم ومحدثات الأمور فإن كل محدثة بدعة وكل بدعة ضلالةand every going astray is in the Fire
