The Hadith of the Ummah's Split and the Meaning of the Group (Jama'ah) in It

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : To the Book of Allah and to the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and to what our righteous predecessors (Salaf) were upon. You know the saying of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him):
The Jews split into seventy-one sects, and the Christians split into seventy-two sects, and my Ummah will split into seventy-three sects, all in the Fire except one.
They said: Who are they, O Messenger?
He said: It is the group, the group.
That is, the group of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), to whom the meaning of his statement (peace be upon him) in the well-known authentic hadith is first directed:
My Ummah will not agree upon misguidance
My Ummah will not agree upon misguidance
The first people intended by this hadith are the community of the Companions of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), for they did not agree upon misguidance. As for those who came after them, among them are those who deviated from the straight path that the Messenger (peace be upon him) laid out, in both description and practical application, as is derived from the description in the hadith narrated by al-Hakim in al-Mustadrak from Abdullah ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him), that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) drew a straight line on the ground one day, then drew short lines around this straight line, then he (peace be upon him) recited over that straight line:
And, [moreover], this is My path, which is straight, so follow it; and do not follow [other] ways, for you will be separated from His way
[Al-An'am 6:153]
And he (peace be upon him) said, pointing to the straight line:
This is the path of Allah.
And pointing to the short lines around it, he (peace be upon him) said:
And these are paths, and at the head of each of these paths is a Shaytan calling people to it.
These paths have existed and continue to exist, increasing continuously, especially in the last times. Therefore, what is the salvation from these paths, which are the cause of every trial surrounding Muslims in every time and place? It is seeking refuge and returning to what the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) left us upon, pure and white, and none deviates from it except one who is destroyed. But here, who are they? Or rather, who is the one who knows this white path that the Messenger (peace be upon him) left for us pure, and threatened that whoever deviates from it is a deviator and destroyed? There is no doubt that
