The Shaykh’s statement on the ruling of meat coming from Bulgaria.

The Shaykh : And the other matter: I said earlier to some of our brothers who asked me, and people often ask us, and they ask me to this day about Bulgarian meat. I am truly amazed at people; we have been familiar with Bulgarian meat for many years, and all these years, it is time for Muslims to understand what the ruling is on this Bulgarian meat. It is a strange matter. So I say: if you are in doubt or uncertainty about whether these animals are slaughtered according to the Islamic method or not, you are not in doubt that they slaughter our Muslim brothers there, the Turks who have resided there for a long time, slaughtering them like sheep. If the Bulgarians were truly slaughtering these animals that we import from them in a Sharia-compliant manner, I say it is not permissible for us to import them from them; rather, it is obligatory for us to boycott them until they stop shedding the blood of our Muslim brothers there. Glory be to Allah, the sense of brotherhood that the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) described as being like one body: The Muslims no longer feel the pain of their brothers, so the Islamic ties between them have been severed. And so their only concern is asking: is it permissible to eat Bulgarian meat? O my brother, you know that the Bulgarians slaughter Muslims there. There is no difference between an Arab Muslim, a Turkish Muslim, an Afghan Muslim, and so on. And the matter is as he (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
If we are brothers, then we must be jealous for one another and grieve for one another, and not be concerned only with our food and drink. Suppose a person is not yet convinced that Bulgarian meat is carrion, and its ruling is that of carrion because it is killed and not slaughtered. We cannot convince people of every opinion, because people remain in disagreement except for those whom your Lord has shown mercy, as stated in the Noble Qur'an. If we cannot convince people that these meats coming to us from Bulgaria have the ruling of carrion, do they not know that these Bulgarians slaughter our Muslim brothers there? Is this tyranny and this painful aggression against our Muslim brothers there not enough to turn us away from Bulgarian meat, even if it were lawful? This is enough, and this is a reminder, and the reminder benefits the believers.
