What is the importance of purification and education?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : ... Therefore, we must now apply two words that I often dwell upon on such occasions: purification and education are necessary. We do not wait for Isa (peace be upon him) or al-Mahdi (peace be upon him); rather, we work and proceed along the path. If they come and find us prepared, they will lead us to good and to establishing the state of Islam as Allah Mighty and Majestic commanded. Otherwise, we will continue on the path as is obligatory by the Shari'ah and, indeed, as is reasonable by intellect. On this occasion, I mention a verse by that pre-Islamic poet. He was a poet of the pre-Islamic age of ignorance, but he was a man of sound mind and was seeking kingship. He was not seeking to establish a Muslim state, so we are more deserving of understanding what he understood in his pursuit of his worldly life. Who is he? Imru' al-Qays. What did he say? Help me, for I am not a poet and I do not memorize poetry, so if I make a mistake:
"My companion wept when he saw the road ahead of us *** and thought we were what? No one memorizes poetry?
Meeting Caesar.
So I said to him; here is the point, I said to him:
... Do not weep, O eye, for indeed *** we seek a kingdom or we die and are excused."
This is the point: he said, "Do not weep, O eye, for indeed we seek a kingdom, a worldly kingdom, or we die and are excused." This means one of two things, as the Islamists say today: either victory or what? Martyrdom. This man of the pre-Islamic age of ignorance, of course, did not have the concept of martyrdom; he had kingship. He said, "Do not weep, O eye, for indeed we seek a kingdom to which we will attain, or we die and are excused." What does "excused" mean? It means that, by Allah, we strived and exerted our utmost effort and ability, but we were unable to attain the kingdom. We are more deserving of having this mindset. He was of the pre-Islamic age of ignorance, but his mind was sound. So it is upon us to work for Islam and prepare the environment for the coming of any reformer. And I believe it is not far for Allah Blessed and Exalted is He, nor is it difficult for Him, to rectify the condition of the Muslims before the coming of Isa (peace be upon him) and al-Mahdi. For the matter is as Allah the Exalted said:
And these days [of varying conditions] We alternate among the people وتلك الأيام نداولها بين الناس
[Ali 'Imran 3:140]
But this reminds me of a phrase I used to say often there in Syria. They say, "This job requires shaking the shoulders." "Shaking the shoulders" is an idiom meaning earnestness, striving, and toil in work. And I used to give them good news of what our Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave good news to his Companions of: two great conquests, the conquest of Constantinople and the conquest of Rome, which is the capital of the Pope today, "the two conquests." And so the question came in one of the sessions in which the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was teaching his Companions. The following question was asked of him: "O Messenger of Allah, do we conquer Constantinople first, or Rome?" He said:
No, but Constantinople لا بل قسطنطينية
And indeed, Islamic history, and indeed all history on the face of the earth, proves that the Muslims conquered Constantinople, and the conqueror was the Turkish Ottoman known as al-Fatih (the Conqueror).

The questioner : Muhammad al-Fatih.

The Shaykh : Yes, Muhammad al-Fatih the Ottoman. He indeed conquered Constantinople. So the first good news was realized. When they asked which of the two conquests would be first, Constantinople or Rome? He said
No, but Constantinople لا بل قسطنطينية
. This first conquest was realized, so it remains for the Muslims to conquer Rome, which is "Rome." But the conquest of Rome requires shaking the shoulders. It is impossible for the Muslims, absolutely not. O our brothers, the lesson is right next to you. It is impossible for the Muslims today to return Palestine to the Muslims, let alone conquer Rome, the capital of the Pope. Why? The matter is very simple. There is a verse in the Noble Qur'an that contains the answer:
if you support Allah, He will support you إن تنصروا الله ينصركم
[Muhammad 47:7]
Do the Muslims, as a nation or as a united block, support Allah? And supporting Allah, of course, is not by defending Him lest an enemy kill Him, may He be free of that, for He is the Most High, the All-Powerful. But supporting Allah is by following the rulings of His Shari'ah. This is the meaning of
if you support Allah, He will support you إن تنصروا الله ينصركم
[Muhammad 47:7]
. On that day, and this is the summary of the answer, on the day the Muslims understand their Islam correctly and apply it completely. I do not mean these millions who are sluggish; that is almost impossible. Rather, I mean the victorious and saved group about which the Messenger (peace be upon him) informed in the authentic hadith. I take the last part of it because it is known to everyone, if Allah wills:
All of them are in the Fire كلها في النار
The seventy-three sects are all in the Fire except one. They said, "Who is it, O Messenger of Allah?" He said:
What I am upon and my Companions. هي ما أنا عليه وأصحابي
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2641Da'if (Darussalam)
. Today, if we knew what the Messenger (peace be upon him) was upon, listen to this, it may be strange to some people, if we acted only as the Messenger was, we would not be able to act. Why? Because the Messenger said, "What I am upon and my Companions." So we must know what the Companions were upon, for they are the ones who knew what the Messenger (peace be upon him) was upon. Therefore, we call for following the Book and the Sunnah upon the methodology of the righteous Salaf. On the day the Muslims return and awaken to this reality, which is that it is obligatory upon them, as a nation, as a group that truly wants to establish the rule of Allah on the face of the earth, there is no way for them to achieve any of that except by taking the purified Islam, built upon the Book, upon the authentic Sunnah, and upon the methodology of the righteous Salaf. And on that day, the believers will rejoice in the support of Allah. Yes.
