The questioner : In an album.

The Shaykh : I mean, in a box or something like that. There is no doubt that there are two rulings concerning this photo. First, as long as it is not displayed, in my opinion it does not prevent the angels from entering. However, this second aspect is that one day it will become a cause for preventing the angels from entering. This is because those who keep these photos do not keep them to become a piece of the wall, but rather to return to them when they feel nostalgic, when they miss someone, and similar feelings that may be appropriate at times and not permissible at other times. Therefore, considering what this photo will lead to, it is not permissible to keep it, especially if it is one of the photos taken under the pretense of being a memory of a trip, a journey, or companionship, or the like. However, if it is a photo for an identity card or something similar to that, where one may need to have himself or his relatives photographed again, there is nothing wrong with keeping it, as it has no bad consequence, if Allah wills.
