What is the ruling on taking commemorative photos in the sacred sites?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : We received a message from Hajj Ba'thir, yes, Hajj Ba'thir, may he be as he will be, if Allah wills. He says, Hajj Q.J. from an Islamic country. After the greeting, I would like to ask the following: What is the ruling on taking commemorative photos in the sacred sites?

The Shaykh : Taking commemorative photos, if they are of human beings, is not permissible, or of animals, such as camels, for example, it is not permissible, because it involves keeping images.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) informed us that the angels do not enter a house in which there is an image, except for what is excluded from images, which is what is made into a cushion or a mattress, and the like of that which is trampled upon. As for these commemorative photos of animals and humans, they are not permissible; it is not permissible to keep them in any case. But if the commemorative photos are of the Ka'bah, for example, or of the mountains of Mina, or of Mount 'Arafah, or of Masjid Namirah, or of Masjid Muzdalifah, or of Masjid al-Khaif in Mina, then there is nothing wrong with that, as long as it does not lead to a religious prohibition. If it leads to a religious prohibition, then it is not permissible; otherwise, the original ruling is permissibility. Yes.
