A discussion on the book by Bakr Abu Zayd (Distortion by the People of Deviation).

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh: What is its focus?

The questioner: Regarding Abu Ghuddah’s manipulation of definitions in the citations, or something of that sort.

The Shaykh: This is a record, meaning it has been printed.

The questioner: The final edition, meaning the thesis has now been published.

The Shaykh: Is it by Abu Ghuddah or by our brother?

The questioner: It is our brother’s response to Abu Ghuddah, yes.

The Shaykh: Yes, Abu al-Harith, you are hinting at something good.
Al-Halabi: I mentioned my Shaykh to our brother Abu Suhayb, and he mentioned this benefit to me before you arrived, so I mentioned to him something related toThe Shaykh : Bakr Abu Zayd

The Shaykh : Yes, that is correct.

The Shaykh: He has a book now that he mentioned to me, titled "Distortion by the People of Deviation." In it, he collected about five or six of the distortions of Abu Ghuddah, then al-Kawthari, then al-Ghamari, then al-Sabouni. These are the ones known in this era. He collected some of their deliberate distortions, where their lying is clear, and recorded them in a thesis of approximately sixty pages. He also mentioned some of it to me, which I mentioned to the brother Abu Suhayb. It is a statement by Abu Ghuddah that he mentioned in his thesis, "The Fitnah of the Createdness of the Qur'an and Its Effect on the Narrators," to which al-Tuwayjiri wrote a response. Abu Ghuddah says, "And al-Dhahabi said about Muhammad ibn Isma'il al-Bukhari that he is a liar or a fabricator." He mentioned it, perhaps as "a liar" or "a fabricator" or "they lied about him," something like that. This is what Ghuddah wrote, even though al-Dhahabi’s statement in the same context says, "And he is not the author of the Sahih." This is truncated.

The Shaykh: We seek refuge in Allah.
Al-Halabi: We ask Allah for well-being. So this does not mean, Glory to Allah the Great, Allah is the Helper.
