What is meant by the strength mentioned in the Qur'an?
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : The Exalted and Majestic Allah says in the Noble Qur'an: [Al-Anfal 8:60] As we mentioned before, the meaning of this Noble verse is clear to every Arab, with no difference in that between a scholar, a student of knowledge, or one who is not a student of knowledge, as long as he understands the Arabic language. [Al-Anfal 8:60] This meaning is clear, but it may not be clear to every Arab in the absolute sense I explained earlier regarding what came in the authentic hadith narrated by Imam Muslim in his Sahih, that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Sahih Muslim 1917 And throwing today, as you know, differs from when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) uttered this hadith. Throwing there was of only two types: first, throwing with spears, and then rarely with arrows, because arrows were made for stabbing and throwing, spears for throwing, and the sword for striking. But sometimes, especially when arrows were plentiful and spears scarce, an arrow might be used in place of a spear. The important point is that the throwing known at that time, in the era of the Arabs in the pre-Islamic age of ignorance, in Islam, and after that, was with spears. Now, spears are hardly made at all, compared to bullets which have developed into what is called "machine guns," for example, and similar weapons that fire dozens of bullets in a single moment. In this situation, it is necessary that the target be hit, either by the first bullet, the second, or the third, and so on. Therefore, when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Sahih Muslim 1917 Throwing with spears now is of no use. So you must throw with bullets. Throwing should be with the bullets used in warfare today. Thus, it falls under the generality of the verse: [Al-Anfal 8:60] That is, of the strength known today, especially of the throwing known today. This is easily understood from the meaning of this verse. But there is something that many people may not notice, so I must point it out. I say, and this point is very important for those Muslims who are enthusiastic about establishing the Muslim state, but they do not know the means that help them achieve their desire, which is establishing the Muslim state. I draw their attention to the meaning hidden in the address of the Lord of the Worlds: I stop at this address. To whom is the address? The address was not for the oppressed, weak Companions from Quraysh in Makkah, but rather it was an address directed to the strong ones who were living with the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) in al-Madinah, and who were able to achieve a very large proportion of this matter: So, prepare the address first for the true believers who gathered around the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and supported him with their wealth, their children, their souls, and everything dear to them. When there is a group or faction that is in a position to be ready to receive such a divine address, those who are commanded to prepare what they can of strength, is there a faction raised on the Book and the Sunnah for many years, as the Companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) raised their first Companions, the Emigrants in Makkah, and they were patient with him and were afflicted in the cause of Allah the Exalted, then they emigrated with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and they were patient and endured, and then prepared what they could of strength? Is there a faction on the face of the earth today that can be compared to such an address? My answer is no. For two reasons. First, we Muslims today cannot compare a faction to the Companions of the Messenger, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). We may compare an individual or individuals to some of the individuals among the Companions of the Messenger (peace be upon him), and in that case, the comparison is with a difference. The comparison is, as some jurists sometimes say, like comparing blacksmiths to angels. Like comparing blacksmiths to angels. Do you understand this statement, or not? Do you understand? And this is regarding whom? Regarding the elite. I say, regarding individuals among the Muslims scattered today, it is possible to compare them to individuals among the Companions of the Messenger (peace be upon him), and even then, the comparison is with a difference, a comparison of the kind of comparing blacksmiths to angels. "What does that have to do with what?" As for finding a faction like the Companions of the Messenger (peace be upon him) on the face of the earth, they do not exist. And I hope one of you will point it out to me here, or there, or elsewhere, and say, "No, you are mistaken. There is a faction in which those descriptions that were in the Companions of the Messenger (peace be upon him) at that time are realized." Then they are worthy of being addressed by the Noble verse: [Al-Anfal 8:60] Do you correct my opinion or mistake it? You must be in one of two positions. If you see that my statement that there is no faction today that can be compared to the Companions of the Messenger (peace be upon him) is correct, then praise be to Allah. And if you see that I am mistaken, point me to this faction. Where is it? Here, I must remind you of the difference. My statement does not contradict or oppose in any way the hadith we mentioned before: Sahih Muslim 1920
And prepare against them whatever you are able of power
وأعدوا لهم ما استطعتم من قوةAnd prepare against them whatever you are able of power and of steeds of war by which you may terrify the enemy of Allah and your enemy
وأعدوا لهم ما استطعتم من قوة ومن رباط الخيل ترهبون به عدو الله وعدوكمBeware, strength consists in archery. Beware, strength consists in archery. Beware, strength consists in archery.
ألا إن القوة الرميُ، ألا إن القوة الرميُ ، ألا إن القوة الرميُBeware, strength consists in archery.
ألا إن القوة الرميُAnd prepare against them whatever you are able of power
وأعدوا لهم ما استطعتم من قوةAnd prepare
وأعدواAnd prepare
وأعدواAnd prepare against them whatever strength you can
وأعدوا لهم ما استطعم من قوةAnd prepare against them whatever you are able
وأعدوا لهم ما استطعتمA group of people from my Umma will always remain triumphant on the right path
