The Shaykh : And an example of the second level is exegesis of the Qur'an by the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) or by the words of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). Allah the Exalted said: [Al-Anfal 8:60] [Al-Anfal 8:60] The word "strength" is an indefinite noun that has not been specified. What is this strength? Is it verbal strength? Physical strength? Financial strength? Propaganda strength? Which strength is it? The Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) specified it in his saying: Sahih Muslim 1917 Sahih Muslim 1917 So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) interpreted the strength mentioned in the Book of Allah as shooting. And does the word "shooting" refer to the shooting known in the time of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) with the bow and arrow, or is it general and includes the shooting of every age according to its circumstances? The answer is that it is general. So the shooting in the time of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) is shooting that falls within the verse, and the shooting in our time with intercontinental missiles and guided projectiles falls within the scope of shooting. For this reason, it is obligatory for Muslims to learn from these weapons what serves as a defense for their religion, their lands, and their selves, and indeed what serves as an attack on the enemies of Allah, because it is obligatory for us to fight them [Al-Anfal 8:39] meaning until they submit or yield to Islam, just as the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) used to send expeditions and order them to call their enemy to Islam, and if they refused, to impose the jizyah, and if they refused, to fight them [At-Tawbah 9:29] Sahih Muslim 22 And what harmed the Muslims was only their lagging behind this divine command: preparing strength and fighting until the word of Allah is the highest. And from that also, meaning exegesis of the Qur'an by the Sunnah, is the saying of Allah the Exalted: [Yunus 10:26] The "best" is Paradise, and the "increase" was interpreted by the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) as looking at the Face of Allah (Mighty and Majestic). And that is because the believers in Paradise look at Allah the Exalted with their eyes, a real looking, just as they see the sun on a clear day with no clouds between them and it, and just as they see the moon on the night of the full moon, and they are not diminished in their seeing of it. We ask Allah the Exalted not to deprive us and you of this vision. And this vision is the best thing and the greatest blessing for the people of Paradise; they have not been given any pleasure greater than what they obtain by looking at the Face of Allah. And mention of this issue has come in the Qur'an in several verses, including this verse, where the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family), who is the most knowledgeable of people about the intent of Allah, interpreted it as looking at the Face of Allah. And it is established by the Sunnah, indeed the Sunnah has been mass-transmitted regarding it from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family). And whoever denies it is likely to be deprived of it on the Day of Resurrection, refuge with Allah, and it will be said to him: You did not believe in this, so you have no share in it in the Hereafter.
