Allah is one in His worship, and Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) is one in following him.

The Shaykh : The second testimony, Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, was the focus of the entire lecture. Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, meaning that no one else is to be followed alongside him.
Allah is one in His worship. Now I will summarize that lecture by saying: Muhammad is one in following him. This is an expression you may find strange, but as he said:
indeed, it is truth - just as [sure as] it is that you are speaking. وإنه لحق مثل ما أنكم تنطقون
[Adh-Dhariyat 51:23]
Allah is one in His worship, and Muhammad is one in following him. The evidence is what Imam Ahmad narrated in his Musnad. I will conclude this talk, as it is now exactly nine o'clock, with this authentic hadith narrated by Imam Ahmad in his Musnad from Jabir ibn 'Abd Allah al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saw a scroll in 'Umar's hand one day and asked him about it. 'Umar said, "This is a scroll from the Torah that a man from the Jews wrote for me." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Are you in a state of confusion as the Jews and the Christians were? أمتهوكون أنتم يا عمر أمتهوكون أنتم كما تهوكت اليهود والنصارى ؟
Mishkat al-Masabih 177
Are you wavering, O 'Umar? Are you wavering just as the Jews and Christians wavered? By Him in whose hand is my soul, if Moses were alive, he would have had no choice but to follow me. So our one who is followed is one. Therefore, the Exalted said: قل إن كنتم تحبون الله فاتبعوني يحببكم الله Say, [O Muhammad], "If you should love Allah, then follow me, [so] Allah will love you[Ali 'Imran 3:31] Peace be upon you, and the mercy of Allah and His blessings. And glory be to You, O Allah, and praise be to You. I bear witness that there is no deity but You. I seek Your forgiveness and I repent to You.
