The Shaykh : Yes. I say to you, my brother, and I say to all your brothers: Are we more loving and reverent toward the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) than the Companions? Yes? No, by Allah. We are not more so, neither in love nor in reverence. You will find a Companion saying, "The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said," or "The Prophet of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said," or "Whoever does such-and-such has disobeyed Abu al-Qasim." They do not use these descriptions that this brother or others among the people use. And perhaps others will use something even stronger than this. I bear witness to Allah that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, our Imam, and that he is the most beloved thing to us after Allah (Mighty and Majestic). And that it is obligatory to prioritize his love over oneself, one's father, one's child, and all of mankind. And that he is the master of the children of Adam. And that he is the one who is obeyed, whose obedience is obligatory. We believe in and affirm all these descriptions. But why do we not follow the righteous predecessors? Why? Are we more reverent toward the Messenger than they were? No. Sometimes one of the people says, "Muhammad ibn 'Abd Allah said." Who is Muhammad ibn 'Abd Allah? The one who does not know him does not know who this Muhammad ibn 'Abd Allah is; he thinks he is just a man among people. Why did you not say, "The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said," and describe him with the message, which is greater than his lineage to his father? This often happens with some people in the name of beautifying the wording. And by the life of Allah, the tongue does beautify itself by mentioning the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). But following the reports of the predecessors is preferable. Did you pay attention to this? Good. When they said, "O Messenger of Allah, how do we send blessings upon you?" What did he say? He said: Sunan an-Nasa'i 1292Hasan (Darussalam). And we hear some people in prayer saying, "O Allah, send blessings upon our master Muhammad." He brought that from his own pocket. Is he more knowledgeable than the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) about the required formula? No. So, my brother, comply and be polite toward the Messenger. If you truly want to honor him, be polite with him. He told you to say, "O Allah, send blessings upon Muhammad." Why do you answer with "our master"? You are inserting it between two words that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) made consecutive? Pay attention, my brother. So, what is the honoring of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him)? It is following him completely, without excess or deficiency. Yes.
