A Return to the Beginning, Regarding the Hadith of (the Man Who Ordered His Sons to Burn Him)
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : If we have understood this, we return to the will of that man, may Allah forgive him. Why? Here was the crux of the argument from the hadith: that disbelief had not taken root in his heart; rather, it occurred to him due to a doubt. He saw, in the terror of what he imagined of his Lord’s punishment for him if it overtook him, a way to escape from this punishment which he deserved. So he made that unjust will. If this affects a Muslim who testifies that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, who believes in the Book of Allah and the hadith of the Messenger of Allah, and he interprets a text from the Book of Allah: if he interprets it while knowing that it is false, then he is a disbeliever. But if it was a doubt for him, then he is not to be held accountable. And this is the end of the answer to that question.
