A Precious Advice for the People of the Sunnah and the Community

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : That is, your advice to the people of the Sunnah...?

The Shaykh : We always advise them, first, of the general principle: the fear of Allah (Mighty and Majestic). This is the fear of Allah that is obligatory upon every Muslim. Then we advise them to remain steadfast to the correct Islamic methodology, which is the Book and the Sunnah, and upon the methodology of the righteous predecessors. We also advise them, as we advise ourselves, to treat people with good character, for the Muslim, as he (peace and blessings be upon him) said in the authentic hadith,
The Muslim man, by his good character, attains the rank of one who stands in prayer at night and fasts during the day. إن الرجل المسلم ليدرك بحسن خلقه درجة قائم الليل صائم النهار
. We also advise them to maintain their approach, of which we have heard something, in calling people to Allah in the best manner, and not to use harshness and violence as some people do, for there is no place for it in this time, especially since the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) mentioned this when he reminded Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) of the time she used violence in responding to that Jew who greeted the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) with a phrase containing a curse upon the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in the Jewish Hebrew language. When he entered upon the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), he said "As-sam," but he mumbled it, making it between "As-sam" and "As-salam," saying "As-sam 'alaykum." The Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) understood it and responded by saying:
And upon you وعليكم
. As for Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), she also shared with her husband and her Prophet in being alert to this word, but she did not have the patience of his (peace and blessings be upon him). She was agitated by this word, as if it had been split in two, and she responded to that Jew with: "And upon you be the curse and the wrath, brothers of the monkeys and the pigs." When the Jew left, the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) said to her:
What is this, Aishah? ما هذا يا عائشة
Sunan Abi Dawud 1565Sahih (Al-Albani)
. She said, "O Messenger of Allah, did you not hear what they said?" He said:
Did you not hear what I said, O Aisha? ألم تسمعي ما قلت يا عائشة
. Here is the point:
Gentleness is not in anything except that it adorns it, and violence is not in anything except that it disfigures it. ما كان الرفق في شيء إلا زانه وما كان العنف في شيء إلا شانه
. So my advice is, first to myself, and to all our brothers, including those who live there in the revolution, that they use this gentleness and this kindness with those who differ with them, and that they do not resort to harshness and violence, for its consequence is very severe. We ask Allah for us and for them success in understanding the Book with a correct understanding, as we mentioned, and that we act upon it in ourselves, and that we raise those who take refuge in us upon that. And praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds. And glory be to You, O Allah, and with Your praise, I bear witness that there is no deity but You. I seek Your forgiveness and I repent to You.

The questioner: May Allah reward you with good, O Shaykh.

The Shaykh : I entrust your religion, your trust, and the endings of your deeds to Allah.
