The prevalence of sorcery in our time: In your view, what are the causes and what is the cure?
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Shaykh Muhammad, sorcery has become prevalent in our time. In your view, what are the causes and what is the cure?
The Shaykh : The causes, may Allah bless you, are the lack of fear of Allah (Mighty and Majestic) and the weakness of faith in souls, along with the love of aggression against others. Therefore, every sorcerer must repent to Allah and abandon it before death comes to him while he is still in this great sin, in which case he will regret it most intensely.
Another cause is the opening of people to us and our opening to them, because much of this type of sorcery was taken by people from the outside. They went to the people, and the people came to them, and evil and corruption resulted.
It is obligatory for one who is afflicted with this matter, namely sorcery, to repent to Allah (Mighty and Majestic), to abandon it, and to undo the sorcery from the one he has bewitched, and to hasten in doing so. If any harm has resulted from his sorcery, let him compensate for it or seek the forgiveness of the victim, because people will be resurrected. It is not that people have no abode except this world; rather, they will be resurrected and recompensed. Therefore, it is obligatory to be cautious about practicing sorcery, and it is obligatory for one who is afflicted with it to repent to Allah from it and to guarantee all the harm that resulted from his sorcery for others, or to seek their forgiveness.
The questioner : May Allah reward you and bless you, O honorable Shaykh.
