Does eating camel meat invalidate the ablution?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Yes, exactly.

The questioner : We like to eat camel meat there.

The Shaykh : May you have health and well-being, but you must perform the ablution.

The questioner : I mean, this question is necessary.

The questioner : I used to hear the opinions of some jurists and the hadiths, the hadith of Jabir and the hadith of Ibn Abbas, that the last of the two matters was leaving the ablution from what fire has touched. Therefore, I like camel meat and I wish that the correct view is that ablution is not required; because the apparent matter is this.

The Shaykh : You must perform the ablution, and if you eat camel meat, may you have health and well-being, but the ablution is necessary. Because the Messenger (peace be upon him), when Jabir narrated, said that the last of the two matters from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was leaving the ablution from what fire has touched. This is a general statement, meaning from all meats, watermelon, and anything, even if it has no meat, from what fire has touched. But the Messenger (peace be upon him) distinguished between camel meat and sheep meat, and there are two hadiths regarding this: the hadith of Jabir ibn Samurah in Sahih Muslim, and the hadith of al-Bara' ibn Azib in the Musnad of Imam Ahmad and others. Both state that a man came to the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah, shall I pray in the grazing places of sheep? He said:
Pray صلوا
. He said: Shall I pray in the grazing places of camels? He said:
Do not pray لا تصلوا
. He said: Shall I perform ablution from sheep meat? He said:
If you wish إن شئتم
. He said: Shall I perform ablution from camel meat? He said:
Perform ablution توضؤوا
. So he distinguished between camel meat and sheep meat, and both are from what fire has touched. So the hadith of Jabir ibn Abdullah al-Ansari that I mentioned before, which is:
The last of the two matters was... كان آخر الأمرين ...
, is explained by the hadith of Jabir ibn Samurah and the hadith of al-Bara' ibn Azib, where the Messenger (peace be upon him) distinguished between sheep and camels regarding prayer in their grazing places, so he permitted prayer in the grazing places of sheep and prohibited prayer in the grazing places of camels. Likewise, he distinguished between sheep meat, so he did not make it obligatory, saying:
If you wish إن شئتم
, and for camel meat he said:
Perform ablution توضؤوا
. Therefore, among the virtues of the Arab lands today is their maintenance of the ablution from camel meat. So stick to what you found from the scholars in your country in this matter, for the Sunnah is with them.

The questioner : May Allah reward you with good.
