The Evidence for the Obligation of Ablution from the Meat of Camels

This letter reached us from al-Qasim, from Buraydah. The sender is Saleh Hamud al-Harbi. He says in his letter: In the name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Bestower of Mercy. To the honorable scholars, peace be upon you, and Allah’s mercy and blessings. After that:
What is the evidence upon which Imam Ahmad (may Allah have mercy on him) relied in obligating the one who eats camel meat to perform ablution, and likewise the evidence for excluding the parts of camel meat that do not invalidate the ablution?
Answer: This issue is not specific to Ahmad; rather, Ahmad and a large group of the people of hadith said it. Their proof is what is established from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) in the hadith of Jabir ibn Samurah, in which he was asked (peace and blessings be upon him): He was given a choice regarding the meat of sheep, but he was not given a choice regarding the meat of camels; rather, it was made obligatory.
And the hadith of al-Bara’ ibn ‘Azib, which is also an authentic hadith, in which the Prophet (peace be upon him) said:Sunan Ibn Majah 497Da'if (Darussalam) He commanded ablution from the meat of camels and not from the others. This is the proof for Ahmad and for the other imams of hadith who said this, and their statement is the correct one. Those who opposed them argued with a hadith that is not a proof, which is the hadith of Jabir in which he said: His statement: is not a proof; because this is general and explained. It is explained by the fact that he ate sheep meat and performed ablution... then he prayed, then he ate from the remaining meat and then prayed the second prayer without performing ablution.
And it has come from him in several hadiths that he ate from sheep meat and did not perform ablution. This indicates that what is touched by fire abrogates the ablution from it; because many hadiths have come from him (peace and blessings be upon him) that he ate from what was touched by fire and then prayed without performing ablution. This indicates that the command to perform ablution from what is touched by fire has been abrogated. Some people said: It was not abrogated, but it remained only as a recommendation. However, the more apparent view is abrogation; because he said in the hadith of al-Bara’:Sunan Ibn Majah 497Da'if (Darussalam) This indicates that it is not prescribed and not recommended. He said: Sunan Ibn Majah 497Da'if (Darussalam) And his statement regarding the meat of sheep: This indicates that it is not obligatory and not prescribed. Rather, the obligatory ablution is from camel meat specifically. As for ablution from what is touched by fire, as Jabir said, it was abrogated: This is the decisive statement in this issue. Yes.

يا رسول الله ! أنتوضأ من لحوم الإبل؟ قال: نعم، فقيل له: أنتوضأ من لحوم الغنم؟ قال: إن شئتAnd the hadith of al-Bara’ ibn ‘Azib, which is also an authentic hadith, in which the Prophet (peace be upon him) said:
Perform ablution after (eating) camel meat, but do not perform ablution after (eating) mutton.
توضئوا من لحوم الإبل ولا توضئوا من لحوم الغنمThe last of the two commands from the Messenger of Allah was to leave off ablution from what is touched by fire.
