Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : This questioner says, "O honorable Shaykh, regarding the sacrifice for the deceased in our old customs, it is said that the deceased has seven sacrifices. Is this correct?"

The Shaykh : This is not correct. First, scholars have differed on the sacrifice for the deceased if it was not a bequest from him. Some said it is prescribed, and some said it is not prescribed. I do not know of any evidence from the Sunnah indicating the sacrifice for the deceased specifically, if it was not a bequest. Rather, some scholars analogized it to charity for the deceased, and charity for the deceased has come in the Sunnah.
As for the claim that one does not sacrifice for him except with seven, this has no basis. It has no basis. Rather, if someone wants to sacrifice for him, he sacrifices for him with one.
Likewise, some people say that the sacrifice for the deceased in the first year of his death is obligatory, and some call it the "sacrifice of the grave." This also has no basis. What I see regarding the sacrifice for the deceased is that one should not sacrifice for him specifically except by a bequest from him. And a person should sacrifice with one sacrifice for him and for his family, intending thereby the living and the deceased of his family. This is sufficient, if Allah wills. Yes.

The questioner : May Allah reward you.
