The Shaykh Al-Albani’s remarks on al-Khalili the Ibadi.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : So when we find a person like this, whose name is thisThe Shaykh : al-Khalili the Ibadi, who wrote a book, what is it? "The Decisive Truth," this man claims, going back and forth, interpreting the texts of the Noble Qur'an and the Prophetic hadiths, then he wields the axe of demolishing the authentic hadiths related to creed, by saying that this is an ahad hadith, and ahad hadiths are not used as evidence in matters of creed. When he comes to, for example, the saying of Blessed and Exalted is He, for example,
For them who have done good is the best [reward] and extra للذين أحسنوا الحسنى وزيادة
[Yunus 10:26]
, and he is quoting, and because he cannot do anything but quote that Muslim narrated in his Sahih, from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said,
For those who do good, the best الذين أحسنوا الحسنى
Paradise. And an increase,
and seeing Allah in Paradise ورؤية الله في الجنة
, by saying this is an ahad hadith. Well, if it is an ahad hadith, this is an authentic hadith, he says it is a weak hadith. He cannot say the hadith is weak. What does he do? He wields the science of kalam against the Prophetic hadith in the science of kalam, so that the argument is not established against them. Whenever a hadith comes to them that contradicts their creed, they say this is an ahad hadith. Well, is it authentic or weak? No, it is authentic, but it is ahad. Well, if it is an ahad hadith, for them, without proof, the matter is conceded for them, that ahad hadiths do not establish an argument. Well, what is the argument if ahad hadiths do not establish an argument? He comes and tells you, so-and-so said such and such, and so-and-so said such and such, meaning interpretations of the verse itself, other than the interpretation which is its transmission from Sahih Muslim from the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him). It is a very strange thing. A hadith narrated with a correct chain from the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) is doubted because it is an ahad hadith, but narrations reported from other than the Messenger, which have no chains, are presented in the interpretation of the verse over the hadith of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him). The hadith narrated from the Messenger takes precedence over any other narration. This is a point I hope you will lower your voices for, or pay close attention to. First: in terms of establishment, the narrations that are reported, whether from some of the Companions or some of the Tabi'un, in anything related to the religion, there is no concern for the precision of their wording, and in verifying narrations from them, as is the case in the science of hadith, connected to the Messenger. This is a fact I do not think anyone doubts. This is from the side of the narration, from the side of the source of the narration, which is the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), he is infallible. Whatever he says, he is infallible. So when we come to other narrations, which the innovators, the Shi'ah, the Khawarij, the Ibadis, and so on, cling to, they will rely on statements other than the statements of the Messenger, that is, statements of non-infallible people. This is one point. Second: these statements, they cannot prove them with an ahad chain, since they did not accept a hadith from the Messenger with an ahad chain. Well, how do you accept from other than the Messenger with a chain of nothing? Only that so-and-so said such and such, and so-and-so said such and such, like this in this book, which he called "The Decisive Truth." He cites what is reported from other than the Messenger over what is authentic from the Messenger. And what is reported from other than the Messenger, and it is not known whether that is authentic from other than the Messenger? He presents it over what is authentic. With that axe, he demolishes everything that came from the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him).
You will see your Lord on the Day of Resurrection as you see this (full moon) and you will have no difficulty in seeing Him. إنكم سترون ربكم يوم القيامة كما ترون الشمس في الظهيرة
Sahih al-Bukhari 7436
, in another hadith,
as you see the moon on the night of a full moon, you shall not crowd one another to see Him. كما ترون القمر ليلة البدر لا تضامون في رؤيته
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2554Sahih (Darussalam)
, an ahad hadith. And here we must pause, to show people the ignorance of these who write in these sciences. What does an ahad hadith mean, our brothers? The ahad hadith, the Messenger, without doubt, spoke many, many hadiths. Perhaps one Companion heard it, perhaps two Companions, two, three. Then this hadith is received from these two or three Companions, or their like from the Tabi'un, or more. This is called an ahad hadith. Why? It must be, for example, twenty Companions narrated a certain hadith, like the hadith we mentioned first and second. Then from these twenty, twenty from the Tabi'un, then from these twenty and twenty, and so on, until it is classified, for example, in twenty books. Stop with me at this point. We say to them, give us a mutawatir hadith with you. You poor people, twenty books. If you gathered all the books of hadith with you, you do not have twenty books. You do not have twenty books, let alone that you have hadiths narrated from twenty paths. We have thousands of books, and praise be to Allah, with that.
