What is the ruling on the claim of being a Shaykh while engaging in what contradicts the Shari'ah, such as using symbols, al-Jafr, and numbers?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Al-Halabi : He saysThe questioner : Some of those who call themselves Shaykhs deal with what is called al-Jafr, the keys to symbols and numbers, and other such things, and they consider these matters to be part of the religion. It is hoped that the matter will be clarified in this regard.

The Shaykh : Some of the witty or literary people say that one of the most difficult things is to speak about self-evident truths and provide proof for them. In my opinion, we have already given the answer to this question just now when we were answering a different issue. We say that this knowledge is not in the Book, nor is it in the Sunnah, nor is it studied and known by the righteous Salaf. Rather, we say that no one among the scholars of the Muslims—neither the independent legal reasoners, nor the followers, nor those who follow without knowing the evidence—says this about this knowledge. Only those who want to consume the wealth of people through unlawful means claim it and assert it.
