Is al-Jafr a science in its own right?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : The book of al-Jafr is said to be a science in its own right. Do you have any information that gives us details about it?

The Shaykh : Like Shams al-Ma'arif.

The questioner : We want to understand.

The Shaykh : The one described as Shams al-Ma'arif al-Kubra. Al-Jafr has absolutely no basis whatsoever. It consists of narrations that have no head and no hump, attributed to 'Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), and they have absolutely no basis. They contain reports concerning matters of the unseen that humans cannot know except through the path of revelation, and they are not from the revelation that Allah sent down to the heart of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). So al-Jafr can be described by another phrase: it is a collection of fabricated hadiths gathered under the name of the Book of al-Jafr. Then where is this book? It does not exist except scattered in some narrations in some books.

The questioner : Is it a book or a science?

The Shaykh : No, no. The Book of al-Jafr is attributed to 'Ali.
Al-Halabi : Our Shaykh, perhaps it is from this book, meaning like what the brother said, and they made it a science. Therefore, Sayyid Hasan Khan, in his book Abjad al-'Ulum, and he made it for the sciences, as is not hidden, fabricated the science of al-Jafr.

The questioner : That is it.

The Shaykh : But it is the Book of al-Jafr.
Al-Halabi : Is its source from the Book of al-Jafr?

The Shaykh : Yes, exactly.

The questioner : Professor, but they claim that the interpretation of
Indeed, We have given you, [O Muhammad], a clear conquest إنا فتحنا لك فتحا مبينا
[Al-Fath 48:1]
by Ibn 'Abbas is that this part of the established science is what they narrated about it?

The Shaykh : Which interpretation by the scholars?

The questioner : The one that is the death of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him).

The Shaykh : If that is what is intended.

The questioner : Meaning the knowledge of what will come.

The Shaykh : If the intention is regarding when the words of Allah the Exalted were revealed:
When the victory of Allah has come and the conquest, إذا جاء نصر الله والفتح
[An-Nasr 110:1]
Abu Bakr al-Siddiq wept; so they asked him, and he said: This is the announcement of the death of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him). This is found in Sahih al-Bukhari, but it does not contain the claimed details. And then, whatever is claimed, we say: bring your proof. And what concerns the death of the Messenger, what is authentic and what is weak, like the story you heard that the Angel of Death came in the form of a questioner, knocked on the door, and Fatima came out, and I do not know what; the point is, it is a story composed to stir up sorrows and griefs. This is a fabricated story without doubt, related to the death of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him). Is this called the science of al-Jafr? And a person does not have to attach himself to names as much as he attaches himself to the things named. The science of al-Jafr, we do not have the science of al-Jafr as a codified, known science in the science of hadith, the science of tafsir, the science of fiqh, the science of grammar, the science of morphology, etc. There is nothing of this at all.

The questioner : Are there writings that say the reality of the science of al-Jafr, the reality, I don't know?
Al-Halabi : The Shaykh : Rashid Rida (may Allah have mercy on him) has a wonderful research, our Shaykh, on the issue of al-Jafr. A book published by the Islamic Office titled Al-Wahdah al-Islamiyyah.

The Shaykh : It is known, the old al-Manar edition exists.
Al-Halabi : It discusses the issue of al-Jafr and establishes the speech extensively, of course, but its conclusion is what our Shaykh mentioned regarding the issue of al-Jafr, that it is superstitions and has no head.

The Shaykh : This is like the calculation of letters, yes. The book mentions an amusing story. I don't know if it happened to him with one of these people, or he told it about some of the predecessors. He met with him and discussed with him that these letter calculations are not standardized, my brother. He said to him, what is your name? He said to him, Hamd. He said to him, Hamd, the sum of these letters is the sum of "kalb" (dog). He said to him, my original name is Ahmad. He said to him, if so, you are "aklab" (a dog). So what is this calculation that is supposed to produce opposites, not from Hamd to dog, and from Ahmad to a dog, yes.

The questioner : ...he has knowledge

The Shaykh : Yes, he has knowledge, he has "shamsariha" and "batikha" like they say about us in Syria

The questioner : Because these writings are modern, that they gathered the numbers on the computer and brought the verses and so on. So Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He, His miracles are apparent, witnessing to the eyes in the heavens. So this narration does not add, what do you want to prove, prove what? So Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He, is more capable of bringing the great miracles that are greater than the sun and the sky.
Al-Halabi : Even as they mentioned, a lawyer in Egypt named Husayn Najji 'Az al-Din wrote a book he called "Fitnat al-Qarn al-'Ishrin" (The Trial of the Twentieth Century). He refuted their work with the computer and proved to them that their speech is confused, meaning they are lying that the computer said such a letter became nineteen and did not become qaf, and he said "Ikhwan Lut" (Brothers of Lut) and did not say "Qawm Lut" (People of Lut) because qaf is eighteen, they become more, it is all mixed up, unfortunately. But "fitnah" means they want to attract the brothers.

The questioner : What do we benefit from this thing? There is no new addition to what... the person who believes with his sound fitrah, oh peace...

The Shaykh : Doctor, what is he doing?

The questioner : That if his health deteriorates, it is absolutely not permissible

The Shaykh : to execute him

The questioner : to hasten his death, even if it is established that his mind has stopped, etc.;
