What is the ruling on building up mosques?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : A mosque, meaning for the Syrians, is a sight to behold. I have seen that the report of 'Abdullah ibn 'Abbas has actually come to pass, which indicates that he received what he said, either in meaning or in wording, from his Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). This is because it is narrated in Sunan Abu Dawud with a strong chain from Ibn 'Abbas that he said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
I was not commanded to build high mosques. ما أمرت بتشييد المساجد
Sunan Abi Dawud 448Sahih (Al-Albani)
I was not commanded to build up the mosques, meaning to raise their structures, as mentioned in the Qur'an:
and a raised structure وقصر مشيد
I was not commanded to build up the mosques. Ibn 'Abbas commented on the hadith: "They will adorn them just as the Jews and Christians adorned theirs." The adornment of the Jews and Christians has entered the mosques of Muslims today. I do not say that the images of the Jews and Christians have entered the homes of Muslims to the same extent; that is also a reality. However, there is a very great difference between the entry of adornments into mosques and the entry of images into homes. It is true that both are wrong and contrary to the Shari'ah, but the entry of adornments into mosques is more deeply wrong than the entry of images into homes. This is because we have taken sin as worship and a means of drawing near to Allah, and to this day, praise be to Allah, we have not heard, and we hope we will not hear, and we hope finally that we will never hear, that any Muslim draws near to Allah by bringing images into their homes. But now we live among people who draw near to Allah by bringing adornments into the houses of Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He). So the saying of Ibn 'Abbas is true of them. In terms of wording and narration, it is mawquf (stopping at a Companion), because he distinguished between what he heard from the Messenger or what the Messenger said, and what he himself said. He said that the Messenger (peace be upon him) said:
I was not commanded to build high mosques. ما أمرت بتشييد المساجد
Sunan Abi Dawud 448Sahih (Al-Albani)
Ibn 'Abbas said:
You* will certainly ornament them as the Jews and Christians did. لتزخرفنها كما زخرفت اليهود والنصارى
Mishkat al-Masabih 718
So it is possible that Ibn 'Abbas heard the meaning of this statement from the Messenger (peace be upon him) himself, but he expressed it in his own wording. It is also possible that this is, as the scholars of hadith say in many hadiths, mawquf in the ruling of marfu' (traced to the Prophet).
You* will certainly ornament them as the Jews and Christians did. لتزخرفنها كما زخرفت اليهود والنصارى
Mishkat al-Masabih 718
This is a reality today. The anthems, which they call with injustice, oppression, and tyranny, the religious anthems, have entered the mosques along with the hand drum, and they draw near to Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He) with them. So we ask Allah (Mighty and Majestic) to make us know the guidance of our Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and to hold us to it until we meet Him (Blessed and Exalted is He).
