Explanation of the Book of Prayer-15

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Then he said: "And from Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him and his father), he said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
I was not commanded to build high mosques. ما أمرت بتشييد المساجد
Sunan Abi Dawud 448Sahih (Al-Albani)
. Abu Dawud narrated it, and Ibn Hibban graded it as authentic."

I was not commanded ما أمرت
Meaning, I was not commanded by Allah to build up the mosques. "Tashyid" means plastering them with "shayd," and "shayd" is plaster.
And his saying "mosques" is the plural of "masjid," which is what is built for prayer in it.
