The reason the Shaykh did not go to the University of Jordan
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : In the name of Allah. We have burdened the professor doctor here, as we tasked him to repeat his words twice, and therefore we must answer him.
The questioner : May Allah reward you with good.
The Shaykh : I am saying, Professor.
The questioner : Yes.
The Shaykh : My presence at the university is not out of disdain or a desire to avoid good and spreading some of the knowledge if I have it, but rather due to my feeling that my going there is premature. Therefore, it falls to you and those like you, whether to your right or left, to pave the way so that I can go to the university, and so that the atmosphere is prepared to accept the word of truth.
The questioner : A beautiful thing.
The Shaykh : Perhaps you know that many of our brother professors and doctors are still far from the call of the Book and the Sunnah. Those who speak today regarding fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence), the best of them are those who speak about what is called comparative fiqh. And in my belief, comparative fiqh today is better than taqlid (following a scholar without knowing his evidence) of a madhhab (school of jurisprudence), even though we are not advocates of narrow sectarianism. Rather, we call Muslims in general, and scholars in particular, to present to all people the knowledge derived directly from the Book and the Sunnah. But this undoubtedly requires scholars of a type of which, unfortunately, we still complain of their scarcity in this age, namely those who combine the fiqh of the Book with the fiqh of the authentic Sunnah.
