Fatwa No. ( 10627 ):
Q: I married my cousin’s daughter on the eighth of Dhul-Hijjah, 1403 AH. On the first day of the blessed month of Ramadan, 1405 AH, Allah blessed me with a son whom I named Musa. In Sha’ban, 1406 AH, my wife miscarried a fetus after its third month.
In Rabi' al-Awwal 1407 AH, Allah took my son (Musa), and as I told you: mywife is my maternal aunt's daughter, and after my son Musa passed away, my maternal aunt, who is my wife's mother, came to me and told me that she had gone to a man knowledgeable in the Book, and that this man told her that my wife has a female jinn follower— or a female jinn slave— that kills her childrenout of envy and malice from her side, and that this man can cut off the root of that female jinn follower or slave. I refused that. On the third day of last month of Sha'ban 1407 AH, Allah blessed me with a daughter whom I named Mustura, but Allah took her on the second day of her birth. So my maternal aunt came to me and said to me: Did I not tell you to go to that man and put an end to that matter? She insisted that we go to him, and my father also insisted with her that we go to that man who performs the ending of that female jinn follower or slave. So I asked them for a respite, hoping that Allah, the Exalted and Majestic, would inspire me, and praise be to Allah who guided me to write this letter to you, hoping that Allah, the Exalted and Majestic, will grant you success in issuing a ruling for us on this matter, knowing that this matter causes me constant anxiety.
A: You did well in refusing to go with your maternal aunt— your wife's mother— to the man who claims knowledge of the Book; because he is a fortune-teller, and you did well also in asking the scholars to verify the truth. You must perform ruqyah (healing by Qur'anic recitation) on yourself, your wife, and any children you are blessed with, by reciting
on each of them Surat al-Fatihah and the three Mu'awwidhat: (Say: He is Allah, the One), Surat al-Falaq, and Surat al-Nas. Repeat the Mu'awwidhat three times and blow after each time into your palms, then wipe with them your face and the front of your body, and supplicate with this supplicationSunan Abi Dawud 4737Sahih (Al-Albani) . We advise you to buy the book [Al-Adhkar al-Nawawiyyah] by Imam al-Nawawi , the book [Al-Kalim al-Tayyib] by Ibn Taymiyyah , and the book [Al-Wabil al-Sayyib] by Ibn al-Qayyim , for they contain many beneficial adhkar (remembrances of Allah) and lawful ruqyah. And success is from Allah. May Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
