The questioner : I went to the Prophet’s city (Madinah) in some years to pray in the mosque of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and one day I went out by car with some...
The Shaykh : What? What? But?
The questioner : But on one day we went out by car with some companions to visit al-Baqi’ and the martyrs of Uhud and to pray in the mosque of Quba. However, when I arrived at the mosque of Quba, the time was after Asr, so I hesitated to pray in it. They said: “That is one of the cases with a cause.” I said: “We only intended to pray at this time, not for an obligatory prayer or anything else.” Who is correct, the one who prays or the one who refrains?
The Shaykh : The one who refrains is correct, because “cases with a cause” means that a cause exists which compels a person to pray. In this case, no cause exists, because entering the mosque was by your choice. If you wished, you could have gone out at this time, and if you wished, you could have gone out at another time. Accordingly, it is not permissible for a person to go to Quba and pray in it during the prohibited times.
However, if a person went to Quba or any other mosque for a certain purpose and entered during the prohibited time, he should pray the greeting of the mosque, because it has a cause. Yes.
The questioner : May Allah reward you with good. This listener, F. A. al-Barqi, says: “O honorable Shaykh.”
