What does Ibn Taymiyyah mean by his statement: "There is no impediment to the types of created things being uncreated or (having no beginning)"?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : What does Ibn Taymiyyah mean by his statement: "There is no impediment to the types of created things being non-terminating," meaning uncreated or having no beginning?

The Shaykh : What does he mean? What he intends is very clear, but it is not understood by us, especially since its apparent meaning contradicts his saying (peace and blessings be upon him):
The first thing Allah created was the Pen, and He said to it: "Write." It said: "What shall I write?" He said: "Write what is destined to happen until the Day of Resurrection." أول ما خلق الله القلم فقال له: اكتب, قال: ما أكتب, قال: اكتب ما هو كائن إلى يوم القيامة
Therefore, in this matter, it is not permissible to follow Shaykh Ibn Taymiyyah. And without a doubt, in my belief, Ibn Taymiyyah, with the intellect, knowledge, and intelligence he was granted, may perceive what we do not perceive. But we have learned from people like him not to submit to what we do not perceive except to the Infallible, who is the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). So when he says: "There is no created thing except that before it was a created thing, and before that, and before that, until there is no beginning," this is a statement we cannot comprehend, even though we can understand it. Understanding is one thing and comprehension is another. Therefore, we stop at the saying of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him):
the first of what Allah created was the Pen أول ما خلق الله القلم
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 3319Sahih (Darussalam)
Therefore, we leave this opinion to Ibn Taymiyyah and do not follow him in it.
