The Shaykh : I have not actually read this book, because I know this man personally and we have had meetings and discussions with him. First, if we assume the best of him, we would say that he does not understand what the Salafi call is. And if we assume the worst of him—and that is his current reality, given his gatherings that are announced on Syrian television—he confirms that he knows the Salafi call and fights it. This is because he is now defending the system of Hafez al-Asad, and he even claims that Islam in Syria is better than in all other Islamic countries. This is my opinion of the man.
