How the youth became attached to Salman al-Oudah and Safer al-Hawali.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Abu Malik: I mean, the excuse is that it was not Safer or Salman or Nasser who told the youth to buy this tape. On the contrary, what made this tape be bought, valued, and spread more than others was that psychological outburst among the youth, especially since there has been an awakening, as we said, among the youth who are the inheritors of this old methodology, which is the jurisprudential methodology bound to the literalism of the texts found in the Hanbali fiqh books.

The questioner : And the literalism of the texts found in the Hanbali fiqh, but they depart from this Hanbali fiqh whenever they wish in the great issues.
Abu Malik: No, I am now speaking about the story of the inheritors, about the inheritance itself. So, these youth...
Khashan: ...
Shuqara: I know what you want. What I say is that here, again, these youth changed automatically, and the merit is not theirs nor the scholars' in this change that came upon these youth who inherited the literalism of the Hanbali fiqh. Rather, the merit belongs to Allah (Mighty and Majestic) by what He decreed to happen in this country, or by this fitnah (trial) that occurred and was known as the Gulf Fitnah. So they realized that their standing or remaining in the face of this fiqh that they inherited with its texts from their scholars was no longer what was required. Therefore, it was necessary that there be something alternative to this inherited thing. They did not find this alternative quickly; rather, its existence was in this psychological revolution, or rather in this pause that Safer and his like took during the Gulf Fitnah, so they leaned toward them. They did not have the fiqh that would restrain them, the correct methodological fiqh that would restrain them from picking up political lectures, words, and sermons, and the political sermons and written words in this matter. They did not have the fiqh that would restrain them, so their direction continued toward this issue, bound and pulled in it or because of it. What I say is that now the role of the few who have understood the da'wah (calling) on the correct Salafi methodology, in accordance with the correct creed of tawhid (the oneness of Allah), is the greatest role, and it entails freeing these people from their attachment to such a methodology that they took from the psychological outburst they have. Therefore, I say that it is obligatory for the da'iyah (callers) now, or it is our obligation, to connect with Safer, connect with Salman, and with Nasser, and with this group of students of knowledge and scholars or da'iyah, so that there is understanding, meaning not theoretical, but practical understanding as well, and a meeting that does not limit itself to distant correspondence or to chance or to occasions. Rather, there should be a specific meeting. So I say, on this occasion, since the brothers have a desire to come and meet our Shaykh, and we meet them here in the country or we meet them in any place, but here, of course, our Shaykh is still present, the meeting must be here. So I say: it is necessary to urge them.

The Shaykh : But the problem is that some of them cannot leave Saudi Arabia.
Abu Malik: Strange, yes, they are forbidden.

The questioner : Salman is prevented, and Safer is also prevented. In fact, Salman had, I think, a lecture in Dubai, but he was prevented from attending. The lecture was titled "Remember the change of what... man... I forgot, La ilaha illa Allah (There is no god but Allah), the title has gone from me now."

Another questioner : Liberating the land or liberating the man.

The questioner : Yes, liberating the land or liberating the man. Yes, this was supposed to be delivered in Dubai, but he did not deliver it in Dubai, so he delivered it in the Kingdom. He was prevented from delivering it in Dubai, so he delivered it in the Kingdom: "Liberating the land or liberating the man." And it was a good lecture.

Another questioner : I say, my Shaykh, to complete the words of our Shaykh Abu Malik regarding linking some of the reality we are suffering from now to the Gulf War, I say the truth is that this needs a careful pause, a pause of optimism. Everything after the Gulf War is realistic; no one denies it. So it feels as if what happened is a reaction, and reactions, however high they rise, do not last, and however high their heat rises, they return to how they were, because they were not built on a methodological foundation and a solid base built on scientific principles.

The questioner : If the subject is regarding Safer...
Al-Halabi : I am not speaking about Safer.

The Shaykh : Have you finished your speech?
Al-Halabi : I have finished my speech.
Khashan: He observes that there is excess and deficiency. Perhaps the people who are accustomed and raised by the scholars there work only in details and branches of fiqh, and they are completely unaware of the events happening around them and of their reality, the daily problems of the Ummah and the problems of people. But these youth are not like those. It is not that their subject is now; they turned in this direction and understood the reality of the matter from now, but rather, from before, you feel that they are monitoring and looking at the reality of the Ummah and looking at how the ship of life is moving in our reality and the reality of the rulers and their distance from the Shari'ah of Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He), even in their own countries. Therefore, you find them resorting to lectures... and monitoring... and these things include the reality they live in. So for that reason, now the attack on them has come from many of the scholars from there; because they do not want this line and alerting people to their affairs, their conditions, and their reality, so that Muslims move from this sleep and this humiliation and this degradation they are in to taking over the leadership of the world and the responsibility of carrying the banner of Islam.
Abu Malik: There is something more important than this thing: that these scholars who are on the fanatical jurisprudential line, we say, have begun to feel, as it is said, that the carpet is being pulled from under their feet. So this reminds us of the state of many people when their leadership was pulled or... that they do not want this to turn into a rejection of good and a desire for it as well in them.

The questioner : From what Nasser al-Omar spoke, I remember in a message that he says that people are working on issues while they are ignorant of great things happening around them, so he goes... that shirk (associating partners with Allah) is spreading in Saudi Arabia or among university students, atheism and kufr (disbelief)... so it is greater. They said, what? He said: Do you not know that they are smoking shisha? So he considered smoking and shisha greater than the specialization of those who fall into atheism. So in a creedal issue, even in the creed, they are unaware of what is happening around them. They abhor shisha and smoking, and he does not know that the youth have fallen into atheism...
