The Shaykh’s rejection of the exaggeration of some preachers, such as Salman al-Oudah, in calling for the jurisprudence of reality.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The student: Our Shaykh.

The Shaykh : Excuse me, I want to say to my brother, Salman al-Oudah, my brother.
The student : Salman al-Oudah, yes.

The Shaykh : In his lecture.
The student: In Algeria.

The Shaykh : In his lecture on the jurisprudence of reality, he says that a scholar who has no knowledge of reality will not have a valid Shari'ah ruling, so he is portraying this as being caused by the heat that followed him.
The student : He is young.

The Shaykh : That is it, so because of the heat that followed him, he comes out saying things that are not Shari'ah-compliant from this Shari'ah-compliant speech, and this causes the others to be stirred up. This is within the limits of the tapes, and perhaps when we gather with some of them, I will find out more. I had three coming a few days ago, I don't know, did you understand?
The student : A few days ago, or in Sha'ban?

The Shaykh: No, no.
The student : Four days ago.

The Shaykh : Four days ago.
The student: Good.

The Shaykh : Yes, and no more than twenty questions are coming.
The student : On this topic?

The Shaykh : Regarding the apparent disagreement that has arisen. Yes, so I drew their attention to the fact that the heat in the jurisprudence of reality means there is no need to stir it up, especially among the masses of people. For example, the jurisprudence of reality is discussed among students, it is not discussed in a lecture.
The student : Yes, yes, because the common people need to know what Allah said and what the Messenger said.

The Shaykh : It would be, even so, if it were in the limited sense that you mentioned just now, meaning specialization is acceptable and reasonable. But he did not say that; on the contrary, he said that if a scholar does not have knowledge of reality, his fatwa will not be a valid fatwa. From here comes the exaggeration, and this exaggeration creates a reaction with the other party. I asked you just now about our brother al-Rabi', what is his position? I told them these three, just as I told them when I had this al-Walid.
The student: Yes.

The Shaykh : I gave a lecture, and the lecture may be published, that I do not think a student of knowledge, let alone a scholar, would deny the importance of the jurisprudence of reality. But I do not make it an individual obligation, meaning every scholar must be a scholar of what? Of the jurisprudence of reality. So every scholar must be a scholar of politics, economics, sociology, medicine, and so on. This is impossible. And for a reason, He the Exalted said:
And their affair is by consultation among them وَأَمْرُهُمْ شُورَى بَيْنَهُمْ
. So this specialization and this social specialization is what gives the correct fatwa. So the exaggeration and this heat that accompanies the youth is the basis of the problems that are raised in the present age.
