Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : We return to our lesson from last night, which concerned zakah. We mentioned several types of wealth subject to zakah. We stated that among the wealth subject to zakah are several types. The student: ...

The Shaykh : Three remaining. He mentioned three: gold, silver, and paper currency.
The student: ...

The Shaykh : Start with the first one.
Gold, silver, paper currency, livestock, debts, and merchandise for trade. Well, these are the six we mentioned. All of them require two conditions: the nisab and the hawl. What is excluded from the hawl is what we mentioned yesterday. What is the nisab for gold?
The student: Eighty-two mithqals.

The Shaykh : Eighty-two mithqals?! That is a lot, O Shaykh! Rest, yes?
The student: Eighty-five.

The Shaykh : Eighty-five what?
The student: Grams.

The Shaykh : Well, twenty mithqals equals eighty-five grams.
