The Meaning of the Saying of Allah the Exalted: (Those who, when they measure out for people, take the full measure, and when they weigh for them or measure out for them, they cause them to lose)

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh :
Who, when they take a measure from people, take in full. الذين إذا اكتالوا على الناس يستوفون
[Al-Mutaffifin 83:2]
They want their own right to be full, but they want to diminish the rights of people. O my brothers, do not look at this verse as being specific to food that is measured or weighed, but it is an example for everyone who wants people to give them their full right, but who diminishes their rights. Among this is what happens between students of knowledge, for some people want people to be followers of them, and they deprive them of their right and belittle their independent legal reasoning, and they do not see any share or portion for their statements if they contradict what he himself sees. He wants people to be followers of him, and he does not follow people even in what is the truth, because he sees himself as near-infallible, and that others are prone to error. This person has a share of this verse, because he excuses himself with his independent legal reasoning but does not excuse people with their independent legal reasoning. We have pointed this out many times in this gathering and in other gatherings, and we said that the person who sees himself as being correct in his independent legal reasoning must give people their due and not see that they are in error in their independent legal reasoning. Because if he sees that, meaning if he sees that he is correct in his independent legal reasoning and that others are in error in their independent legal reasoning, then this is the one who cheats in measure, who, when he measures out for people, takes the full measure, and when he measures out for them, causes them to lose.
