Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : For what He has facilitated of fasting this month and standing in prayer during it. At the conclusion of this month, Allah (Mighty and Majestic) prescribed for His servants to glorify Him. So He, the Exalted, said: [Al-Baqarah 2:185] "Glorify Allah," meaning magnify Him with your hearts and tongues. One says this using the wording of takbir, saying: "Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, la ilaha illa Allah, wa Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar wa lillah al-hamd." Or one says takbir three times, saying: "Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, la ilaha illa Allah, wa Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, wa lillah al-hamd." All of this is permissible. That is, whether one comes with the takbir in an even number or an odd number. It is recommended for a person when making takbir to be conscious that he is magnifying Allah with his heart and tongue, and that by Allah's blessing upon him and His guidance of him, he has reached the highest and most elevated station. For this reason, He said: "for what He has guided you to." Thus, Allah placed the takbir above the guidance, meaning that this takbir was the result of Allah's (Glorified and Exalted is He) guidance and His enabling of the fasting of Ramadan and standing in prayer during it.
