The Ruling on Takbir and Its Prescription for Women

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : This takbir is a recommended practice (sunnah) according to the majority of scholars. It is a recommended practice for both men and women in mosques, homes, and markets. Men recite it aloud, while women recite it quietly without raising their voices, because women are commanded to lower their voices. For this reason, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
If something happens to you in your prayer, let the men say Subhan Allah and let the women clap.
Sunan ad-Darimi 2:175
And they are forbidden from speaking in a soft, low voice that invites temptation. Allah the Exalted said to the wives of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
And abide in your houses
[Al-Ahzab 33:33]
Allah the Exalted said to the wives of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
O wives of the Prophet, you are not like anyone among women. If you fear Allah, then do not be soft in speech [to men], lest he in whose heart is disease should covet, but speak with appropriate speech.
[Al-Ahzab 33:32]
Reflect, O brother, to whom is this address directed? And in what time? To whom is the address directed? To the wives of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), who are the purest of women. And in what time? In the time of the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them), who are the best of generations by the explicit text of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). And yet, Allah the Mighty and Majestic says to them:
do not be soft in speech [to men], lest he in whose heart is disease should covet
[Al-Ahzab 33:32]
So what do you think of the women of today? And what do you think of this time? And what do you think of the men of today? Are they not closer to illness than the Companions? Answer? Yes, they are closer to illness. They are closer to illness than the Companions and closer to temptation. And yet, Allah forbade the wives of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) from softening their speech, and He cited the reason for this prohibition in His saying:
lest he in whose heart is disease should covet, but speak with appropriate speech.
[Al-Ahzab 33:32]

So this is one of the things recommended at the end of this month, which is the takbir. And its evidence is:
Read what comes before it so that it becomes clear that it is for this month.
and [wants] for you to complete the period and to glorify Allah for that [to] which He has guided you; and perhaps you will be grateful.
[Al-Baqarah 2:185]

The form of the takbir is: Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, three times. Or Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, two times. Or Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, two times, and Allahu Akbar. All of this is permissible. In any place, in every place, in mosques, in markets, in homes, for both genders, men and women, for everyone. But the difference is that women keep it hidden and men recite it aloud.
