The Shaykh’s review with the students on the causes of the multiplication of deeds.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : I want you to give us the reasons for the difference in the value of deeds, on the condition that none of you looks at what is written. Did I write anything? Come on.
The student: First, according to the place.

The Shaykh : Do you mean the order? We are not counting it for you?
The student: ...

The Shaykh : Okay, the type, the type of the deed. Okay.
The student: ...

The Shaykh : Wait, what is its evidence? The nobility of the type of the deed. The proof is on the claimant. You are now claiming that the nobility of the type of the deed, that the deed varies according to its type.
The student: Fasting and, the best of deeds is prayer, then...

The Shaykh : Rest. The evidence? Brother, the evidence is here.
The student: ...

The Shaykh : What does he say? There is no harm, but if you stand up so that the people can hear.
The student: ...

The Shaykh : I mean, it did not come in the Qudsi Hadith, in the Qudsi Hadith
And the most beloved things with which My slave comes nearer to Me, is what I have enjoined upon him
Sahih al-Bukhari 6502
Okay, wait, who?
The student: The value of the deed is according to the doer, like zakah and fasting.

The Shaykh : No, zakah and fasting!
The student: Like prayer and zakah... the acts of worship.

The Shaykh : No, no, okay.
The student: It varies according to its kind.

The Shaykh : According to the kind of the deed, like what?
The student: Prayer, then zakah, then fasting, then Hajj, then...

The Shaykh : Okay, do you have evidence that prayer is better than zakah?
The student: Yes.

The Shaykh : What is it?
The student: First, it is the second pillar of the pillars of Islam.

The Shaykh : And zakah.
The student: The second pillar.

The Shaykh : I mean, its delay in the order.
The student: Its delay... prayer.

The Shaykh : Its delay in the order.
The student: Yes.

The Shaykh : Okay, abandoning prayer is disbelief, and abandoning zakah is not disbelief.
The student: Abandoning prayer is disbelief.

The Shaykh : And zakah.
The student: And zakah, for the one who is not able...

The Shaykh : ... even prayer, if one cannot pray standing, he prays sitting. Abandoning zakah is not disbelief, meaning if a person withholds zakah while acknowledging its obligation, he does not become a disbeliever. Okay... yes.
The student: According to the doer?

The Shaykh : According to the doer. Okay, according to the doer, what is the evidence?
The student: ...

The Shaykh : Yes, yes, well done, perfect. There is no evidence from the Sunnah that the deed varies according to the doer. Evidence from the Sunnah? Okay.
The student: The Messenger of Allah said...

The Shaykh :
Do not revile my Companions?

The student: ...

The Shaykh :
by Him in Whose hand my soul lies
Sunan Abi Dawud 3646Sahih (Al-Albani)

The student:
If any one of you spent

The Shaykh :
if one of you contributed the amount of gold equivalent to Uhudلو أنفق أحدكم مثل أحد ذهبا
Sunan Abi Dawud 4658Sahih (Al-Albani)

The student:
it would not be equal to a Mud
Sahih al-Bukhari 3673

The Shaykh :
it would not be equal to a Mud or even a half Mud spent by one of them.
Sahih al-Bukhari 3673
Okay, rest, wait, okay, according to the place, okay, what is the evidence?
The student: Prayer in the Prophet’s Mosque is better than prayer in any other place...

The Shaykh : That is not evidence, that is a ruling. If asked what is the evidence, say "Allah the Exalted said" or "The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said."
The student: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said
Salat is this Masjid of mine
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 325Sahih (Darussalam)

The Shaykh :
better خير

The student:
Better...

The Shaykh :
a thousand prayers offered elsewhere
Sunan an-Nasa'i 691Sahih (Darussalam)

The student:
Except the Sacred Mosque

The Shaykh : Okay, this is according to the place. Perfect, rest... okay.
The student: According to the time.

The Shaykh : According to the time, the deed varies according to the time.
The student: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said
There are no days...

The Shaykh :
There are no ما من

The student:
There are no days in which righteous deeds are ... the ten days of Dhul-Hijjah

The Shaykh : ... Please proceed.
The student:
There are no days in which righteous deeds are ... more beloved to ... than these ten days
Sahih Ibn Khuzaymah 7:345

The Shaykh :
There are no days in which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allah than those ten days.
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 757Sahih (Darussalam)

I mean, the ten days of Dhul-Hijjah
They said: “O Messenger of Allah! Not even Jihad in the cause of Allah?” He said: “Not even Jihad in the cause of Allah, unless a man goes out with himself and his wealth and does not bring anything back.”
Sunan Ibn Majah 1727Sahih (Darussalam)
Perfect. The one who answered does not need to answer again. Yes, okay, according to the hardship of the deed on the doer. What is the evidence?
The student: ...
if they swear by Allah, Allah fulfills their oath
Sunan Ibn Majah 2649Sahih (Darussalam)

The Shaykh : No, no, what is this? Rest, okay.
The student: The saying of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) to Aisha
Your reward is only according to your effort.

The Shaykh : Yes, perfect, well done. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to Aisha
Your reward is according to your effort
meaning your hardship. And it also came regarding the days of patience, the days of patience when people are in a state of estrangement from the religion,
that the worker in them has the reward of fifty [workers] from among the Companions
, why? Because of the hardship of the deed. Because when the religion is in a state of estrangement and the doers are few, the doer finds more hardship than if all people were practicing the religion. So the stranger among people who upholds his religion undoubtedly finds it difficult to implement the religion, and for this reason his reward is multiplied.
