The Shaykh :
He knows what is on the land and in the sea يعلم ما في البر والبحر
[Al-An'am 6:59]
Of what? Everything on the land and in the sea, of trees, stones, rivers, birds, and animals; everything on the land and in the sea.
Not a leaf falls but that He knows it وما تسقط من ورقة إلا يعلمها
[Al-An'am 6:59]
From where does the leaf fall? From the tree. And "leaf" is comprehensive for every leaf, small or large, because "leaf" is an indefinite noun in the context of
And no leaf falls وما تسقط
In the context of what? In the context of negation, so it implies generality. Any leaf that falls, He knows it. Good. And any leaf that grows, He knows it, because if He knows the fallen leaves, He knows the growing leaves a fortiori, because growth requires creation, and Allah Mighty and Majestic knows what He created, as He the Exalted said:
Does He who created not know, while He is the Subtle, the Acquainted? ألا يعلم من خلق وهو اللطيف الخبير
[Al-Mulk 67:14]
Good.
And no grain is there within the darknesses of the earth ولا حبة في ظلمات الأرض
[Al-An'am 6:59]
Meaning, He knows it.
And no grain is there within the darknesses of the earth ولا حبة في ظلمات الأرض
[Al-An'am 6:59]
Meaning, it is known to Allah. Any grain, known, large or small? Large and small, because "grain" is also an indefinite noun in the context of negation.
within the darknesses of the earth في ظلمات الأرض
[Al-An'am 6:59]
Our brother explains to us the darknesses of the earth.
The student: In the depths of the seas.

The Shaykh : This is one. Good. The darkness of the night. Is there anything else?
The student: ...

The Shaykh : He says "in the darknesses of the earth." This is the darkness of the sea and the darkness of the night.
The student: The darkness under the earth is the first darkness. The second darkness is the darkness of the sea. The third darkness is the darkness of the night, and the darkness of the clouds.

The Shaykh : If there are clouds.
The student: And the darkness of the rain.

The Shaykh : If there is rain. Correct. Five darknesses. Rest. Do you have anything else?
The student: The darkness inside the whale.

The Shaykh : Inside what?
The student: The whale. Yunus (peace be upon him) was in the darkness of the whale.

The Shaykh : In the darknesses of the earth. The bellies; I do not know if they are from the earth or not? In any case, let us see. In the darknesses of the earth, let us suppose a grain is in the bottom of the sea, under the mud, on a dark, rainy night. If we count the darknesses, they become five: the darkness of the mud above the grain, the darkness of the water above the mud, the darkness of the night, the darkness of the clouds, and the darkness of the rain, because when the rain falls, there is darkness in it. This is why you look at the rain through white clouds and see it as black. These are five darknesses, and they are the ones we know. If there are other darknesses, we do not know them; Allah knows best. This small grain in these darknesses is known to Allah:
and no moist or dry [thing] but that it is [written] in a clear record. ولا رطب ولا يابس إلا في كتاب مبين
[Al-An'am 6:59]
Meaning, it is written with Allah in a clear book, without discrepancy. So the knowledge of Allah encompasses everything, in general and in detail, in the present, the past, and the future.
