The story of the man who was extravagant in his sins and ordered to be burned after his death so that he might escape the punishment of Allah the Exalted.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Well, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) narrated
That a man who was extravagant in his sins and feared the punishment of Allah said to his family: "When I die, burn me and scatter me in the sea." He thought, what? That if they did that, he would be saved from the punishment of Allah, and that Allah would not be able to punish him after he had become ash. But Allah the Exalted resurrected him and questioned him, saying, Glorified and Exalted is He: "Why did you do that?" He said: "Out of fear of His punishment."
. This man did not become a disbeliever, even though doubt in the power of Allah is a cause of disbelief. Nevertheless, he did not become a disbeliever because he did not intend it; there was no denial of Allah’s power in his heart, but the fear of the punishment of Allah, Mighty and Majestic, overcame his heart.
